A significant milestone for the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor and CONCOR MMLP Varnama

The OHE section between GCT-MMLP ICD Varnama (CGMV) and New Makarapura Station of WDFC was successfully commissioned on 22nd March 2026.

The occasion was marked by the flagging off of the a double-stack container train from Varnama to Mundra Port.

The commissioning ceremony was graced by the presence of:

along with other senior officials from DFCCIL and CONCOR.

This development enables seamless and uninterrupted rake movement to and from GCT MMLP ICD Varnama (CGMV), significantly enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening rail-based logistics along the corridor.

The commissioning is expected to improve transit times and reinforce the role of rail logistics in supporting India’s growing trade and industrial ecosystem.

🤝 Productive engagement in Rajkot ! 🤝

Sh. Ravi Prakash Chaturvedi, Executive Director & Area Head (West), along with Sh. Abhilash V, CGM Ahmedabad Cluster and team from Container Corporation of India Ltd., interacted with industrialists and members of the Rajkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Key discussions focused on strengthening rail-based logistics, including the GatiShakti rail terminal at Morbi, LCL cargo consolidation, and cost-effective rail solutions for EXIM cargo. Opportunities for domestic cargo movement from Morbi/Rajkot via rail were also explored. 🚆📦

Industry members highlighted the need for an ICD at Rajkot and agreed to initiate a trial rail-road cargo movement from CONCOR’s Morbi terminal, subject to a viable cost framework.

Shri Vijoy Kumar Singh, Director (International Marketing & Operations), CONCOR, in the panel discussion alongside industry representatives in the presence of Shri Pankaj Kumar, Joint Secretary (Govt of India) highlighted CONCOR’s vision for Vidarbha Region.

GICON (A JWG of GIDC & CONCOR) has successfully launched a weekly scheduled rail service – “Dahej Express” between ICD Dahej (INDAH6) & JN Port for movement of Customs-cleared export containers.

Return leg from JNPT to ICD Dahej will carry import containers (subject to availability). The first trial rake was railed out on 21.01.2026 from ICD Dahej to JNPT with export containers of Hindalco Birla Copper, APPL & Mehali Papers.

Today, 9 Nov 2025, CONCOR Ahmedabad Cluster flagged off its 1st door-to-door parcel service from Kankaria (Ahmedabad) to Sankrail (Kolkata) under the Indian Railway’s Joint Parcel Project – Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS).

A new era of seamless, time-bound, and cost-efficient logistics begins. This initiative marks a paradigm shift — CONCOR is no longer limited to full-container or rake-load traffic.
