Congratulations Miss Bendangienla Longshir! 🔥👍💥 👑

Linoka K Achumi, 18, was crowned Miss Nagaland 2025 at the grand finale held at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, on Thursday. Achumi was also the 2nd runner-up of Miss Sumi 2025.

Bendangienla (Miss Mokokchung 2025) was named 1st runner-up, and Christina H Yeptho (Miss Dimapur 2025) secured 2nd runner-up.

Organised by the Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and TaFMA, the event followed the theme "Grace and beauty – the woman in you".

Administrative Circles: 4
(Mangkolemba ADC, Alongkima EAC, Longchem EAC, and Merangmen EAC)
Ranges:3 (Jangpetkong, Japukong, and Tzurangkong)
Villages: 45 Ao villages + 9 villages of other Naga tribes (mainly Sumi)

Geographical Significance:
Mangkolemba subdivision covers nearly 50% of the total geographical area of Mokokchung district, making it one of the largest and most extensive subdivisions in the district.
As it falls under border belt area, Mangkolemba shares a significant border length with Assam, making it strategically important for both administrative and security reasons.

Why Mangkolemba deserves to be upgraded to a full-fledged district?

1. Demand for District Up-gradation
To ensure administrative convenience and accessibility. Several villages currently travel over 80 km to Mokokchung for official purposes. Poor road conditions and high travel costs pose major challenges for both villagers and officials.

2. Developmental Neglect and Disparities
The area remains grossly underdeveloped, with inadequate infrastructure, poor road connectivity, weak healthcare, and limited educational institutions.
Compared to other districts and even some recognized backward tribes/areas, the citizens of the three ranges are more deprived of development and opportunities.
The people are not backward, the land is. The youths are educated, but they lack opportunities because the land remains underdeveloped.
Despite being educated and resourceful, they lack access to equal opportunities and government attention.

3. Strategic Importance (Border Area)
Mangkolemba shares a long and sensitive border with Assam and often faces border-related tensions. Local officials act as first responders, while Assam deploys senior officers, resulting in a rank and authority imbalance.

4. Unity and Equitable Progress
The demand aims not to divide the Ao community but to strengthen it through equitable development and balanced progress across all ranges. The vision is to achieve unity by ensuring equal opportunities, balanced development, and shared progress for all.

5. Ao Senden’s Endorsement
The Ao Senden issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in 2022 formally supporting/endorsing the up-gradation of Mangkolemba into a full-fledged district.

6. Economic Potential/Viability
With adequate attention and support, Mangkolemba can develop into a major horticultural and agricultural hub.
Key activities include:
Agar wood, rubber and tea plantations, betel nut cultivation, fisheries and allied sectors.
The region possesses rich untapped natural resources with great potential for full-scale exploitation, which would greatly benefit both the local populace and the state economy.

Public Rally and Memorandum Submission
After the meeting, a peaceful silent rally was held.
Marched to the ADC Office, Mangkolemba, and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through the ADC.
