From 1–5 June 2026, the Swachh Gaon Suraksh*t Jalvayu campaign is being organized across Punjab under 2.0, culminating on World Environment Day.

District & block officials, elected representatives, and community stakeholders are being oriented on and Hon’ble Supreme Court directions.

The campaign focuses on:

🤝 Community participation

Aligned with this year’s theme “Climate Action”, promotes sustainable solid waste management, strengthens rural systems, and helps villages move towards ODF Plus (Model) status.

A landmark step towards safe & sustainable drinking water! 💧

The 67 Villages Surface Water Supply Project at Jawahar Market, Sri Anandpur Sahib, District Rupnagar was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Hardeep Singh Mundian Ji, Cabinet Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation & Disaster Management, Water Supply & Sanitation, Housing & Urban Development, Punjab, and Hon’ble Shri Harjot Singh Bains Ji, Cabinet Minister for Technical Education & Industrial Training, Higher Education & Languages, and School Education, Government of Punjab.

Through a 13 MLD Water Treatment Plant & 60 km pipeline network, the project will deliver treated surface water to 67 villages, benefiting 87,500 residents and 15,900 households.

This transformative initiative strengthens rural water infrastructure, addresses groundwater challenges, and ensures clean drinking water for generations to come.

Butala village in Block Rayya, Amritsar, has emerged as a model for Solid Waste Management.
Supported by the Butala Welfare Society, Baba Palla Sports Club, and Round Glass Foundation, the Gram Panchayat has implemented door‑to‑door waste collection with four motorbike rickshaws and three cycle rickshaws, operated by a dedicated team. Each household has been provided two bins – blue for dry waste and green for wet waste – and pays ₹100 per month as a waste collection fee. Managed by the Gram Panchayat, the SWM plant ensures cleaner streets, healthier surroundings, and a pollution‑free environment. This initiative demonstrates how collective effort and community participation can transform villages into cleaner, greener, and healthier spaces.
