Lala Lajpat Memorial Library was opened to the public in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh in 1928. It is centrally located; has a large garden area in the back; and is a short distance to two elementary schools (one of which is the best in the city), two colleges, and a high school. It was a popular destination for the community until 1992, when the management team started to neglect the library. As a resu

lt, the library started to deteriorate, lost a lot of its books, and was no longer utilized by the community. In late 2013, a group of family and friends adopted the library and turned it around- completely redesigning and remodeling the building, purchasing new books, and instilling a new and committed management team. The goal of the library is to provide under-privileged students of all age levels access to an environment that fosters education and provides resources to prepare for secondary education.
