🐾 On the occassion of 8th INTERNATIONAL CLOUDED LEOPARD DAY, an awareness cm interaction program was organised at M’Pen II Chakma Community Hall by Namdapha National Park & Tiger Reserve on 5th August 2025.

🤝 The people of M’Pen I & II enthusiastically came together to celebrate one of the most elusive, flagship and umbrella species of our forests – the Clouded Leopard (Neofelis nebulosa), often referred as Guardians of the Forests.

🐯 Hosted by Namdapha NP & TR authority with technical support from conservation organisation S.P.E.C.I.E.S., the event featured:
- Interactive awareness sessions on the Nine Wild cats of Namdapha.
- Informative session on Clouded Leopards and their importance
- Traditional knowledge sharing by villagers about coexistence with wildlife
- Discussions on past and present human-wildlife conflicts and how to mitigate them
- Community-led conservation actions and commitment for the future
- And a very special moment — the adoption and naming of a Clouded Leopard that was captured in nearby areas of village, promoting community stewardship.

🐾 The villagers named the Clouded Leopard: "Tekke Bora Bagh (Fhejamoh)" – a beautiful name rooted in their own language and culture, symbolizing pride, care, and guardianship over this majestic creature.

🎤 Villagers and GBs passionately expressed their concerns and hopes for wildlife conservation, emphasizing how community involvement is key to protecting Namdapha’s biodiversity.

🌳 The Namdapha officials extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants for stepping forward and embracing this shared mission.

“When communities care, the wild thrives.”

Let this be the beginning of stronger bonds between people and nature in Namdapha.
