The UN General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that 2 October will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Subhas Chandra Bose
23 January 1897 – 18 August 1945

Subhas Chandra Bose was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa Division, Bengal Province, to Prabhavati Bose (Dutt) and Janakinath Bose, an advocate belonging to a Bengali Kayastha family.
He was the ninth in a family of 14 children. His family was well to do.
