World Health Day 2026 Observed at NEIAFMR, Pasighat.

The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR), Pasighat observed World Health Day 2026 with a focused initiative reinforcing the theme “Together for Health. Stand with Science.”

In line with this global message, a guest lecture on “Health Benefits of Yogic Practices, Meditation and Naturopathy” was delivered by Shri Bedakanta Mahanta, Yoga Expert. The session emphasized the scientific basis and evidence-supported benefits of traditional health practices, highlighting their role in preventive healthcare and holistic well-being.

The programme, conducted on 7th April 2026 at the Conference Room of NEIAFMR, brought together participants in a shared commitment towards building a healthier society through informed choices and collective action. Smt. Geyum Dabi, STO, Rashtriya Raksha University, Pasighat campus also expressed her views in the subject.

The event underscored the importance of integrating evidence based traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches, promoting unity in advancing public health.

It reflected the spirit of collaboration, awareness, and evidence-based practice, resonating strongly with the World Health Day 2026 theme.

A significant chapter begins at the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR) as the Department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana (RSBK) officially commences medicine preparation.

To mark this milestone, the department has launched the "Kalpana Series," a dedicated initiative for the systematic preparation of traditional formulations. The series kicked off with the preparation of Karpooradi Taila, renowned for its efficacy in pain management.

This achievement was made possible through the visionary support of Director Dr. Inya Lingu and Principal Dr. Yogesh Badwe

The event was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sajeena Alingal(Assistant Professor, Dept. of RSBK), with the active involvement of senior faculty members Dr. Amal Bawri and Dr. Imli Kumba, alongside the faculties and students of NEIA&FMR.

Successful Medical Outreach Camp Conducted at BRO Office, Mechuka

The specialized medical team of NEIAFMR, Pasighat in collaboration with Border Roads Organization (BRO), successfully organized a comprehensive health camp on 16/03/2026 in the high-altitude region of Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh. This initiative aimed to bridge the healthcare gap for BRO personnel and the local community living in this remote, geographically challenging sector. The camp’s success was underpinned by the seamless coordination of Mr. Maniram (ADO).

A dedicated team of experts from NEIAFMR, Pasighat, provided high-quality diagnostic consultations and personalized care:

The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Folk Medicine Research, Pasighat, organized an Awareness and Capacity Building Programme for Traditional Healers of Northeast India on 17th March 2026 in East Siang district.
The programme aimed to provide a common platform for meaningful interaction between Ayurveda practitioners and traditional healers, fostering knowledge exchange and collaborative growth.
The event was attended by key dignitaries including DMO Dr. Yagling Perme and NEIAFMR Director (I/C) Dr. Inya Lingu.

The gathering was also addressed by Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs Project Officer Dr. Harsh*ta Bhatnagar.

Insightful sessions were delivered by Assistant Professors Dr. Jayakrishnan K on Dietary practices and Dr. Sajeena A on Pharmacovigilance & Safety measures.
Organising Secretary Dr. Imlikumba emphasized the importance of capacity building among traditional healers and the integration of folk healing practices into the AYUSH mainstream.

The programme saw active participation from over 40 traditional healers representing five Northeastern states. A unique showcase of folk medicines added further value to the event, highlighting the rich traditional knowledge of the region.

A successful Buyer–Seller Meet on Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (MAPs) was organized at Pasighat on 16th March by NEIA&FMR in collaboration with the College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat and the College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal.

The event brought together over 80 stakeholders including farmers, collectors, traders, and experts to foster discussions on the potential of locally available MAPs, quality standards, market demand, and sustainable harvesting practices.

The meet served as a dynamic platform to strengthen the value chain and explore new marketing opportunities for MAPs in Arunachal Pradesh.

AyuFolk – 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation from budding researchers and students, making the scientific sessions highly vibrant and impactful. A total of 32 online and 23 offline paper and poster presentations were conducted across UG and PG categories, reflecting the growing research orientation in Ayurveda and allied fields.

The presentations covered diverse areas including clinical research, ethnobotany, and emerging domains like Ayurinformatics, highlighting the integration of traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches. Such platforms play a crucial role in encouraging young minds towards evidence-based Ayurveda and translational research.

The National Conference AyuFolk – 2026, organized by the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR), Pasighat, was successfully conducted on 13th–14th March 2026. The event brought together academicians, clinicians, researchers, and students from across the country to deliberate on the integration of Ayurveda, folk medicine, and modern scientific approaches.

The inaugural session was graced by Prof. (Vd.) P.K. Prajapati, Director, AIIA, as the Chief Guest, whose address emphasized the need for evidence-based validation in Ayurveda. The valedictory session was graced by Dr. Naba Kumar Bezbaruah, Functional Director, TRIHMS, Itanagar, acknowledging the importance of translational research and integrative healthcare.

The conference featured insightful sessions on Ayurinformatics, ethnobotany, integrated healthcare models, and regulatory aspects, highlighting the growing role of in silico studies and reverse pharmacology in validating traditional knowledge. Scientific paper and poster presentations, conducted in both offline and online modes, showcased innovative research spanning clinical, experimental, and computational domains.

Deliberations emphasized the vast potential of North-East India in herbal medicine, wellness, and sustainable healthcare practices. The main celebration of International Women’s Day 2026 was held on 6 March 2026 at the NEIA&FMR Campus, Pasighat. The programme began with a welcome address, followed by the Dhanvantari Vandana, symbolizing knowledge, healing, and positive beginnings.

The event was graced by the distinguished Chief Guest, Dr. Menuka Kadu, Assistant Professor and Head (I/c), Department of Social Work, Arunachal Pradesh University, and Guest of Honour, Mrs. Yamik Dolum Darang, President of Women Against Social Evils (WASE), Pasighat. Both guests delivered inspiring and motivational addresses emphasizing women’s empowerment, social responsibility, and active community participation.

The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR), Pasighat, conducted a Comprehensive Health Awareness & Health Camp on 2nd March 2026 at Rani Village, as part of Celebration of International Women's Day.
An awareness lecture on the topic "Breast examination" was delivered by Dr. Rozy Taifa and another awareness lecture on the topic "Cervical Cancer" was delivered by Dr. Susdev K.M.

A total of 40 patients received Ayurveda consultations, and free medicines were distributed.

The medical team consisted of the following:

NEIAFMR was pleased to contribute to public health awareness through the “Nari Jagat” (Women’s World) health program broadcast on Akashvani Pasighat on 26/02/2026.

Dr. Palki Baruah, Assistant Professor, Department of Kayachikitsa, NEIAFMR, was invited to deliver an expert talk focusing on Madhumeha (Diabetes) and its prevention.

The session aimed to create greater awareness among the public, especially women about the importance of early detection, healthy lifestyle practices, and effective management of diabetes.
