On 15/04/2020, cadets of Devamatha college Kuravilangad NCC unit under the supervision of Capt. Sathees Thomas and Anugraha charitable trust made arrangements for cutting and scheduling cover materials for making 50000 masks. It is distributed to 50 cadets having sewing machine for stitching the masks.
The program consists of three phases, as a part of Ist phase masks were distributed to different organisations of Kuravilangad today. On the 2nd phase masks would be distributed to the 4000 houses of Kuravilangad Grama Panchayat benefiting around 16000 people. On the 3rd phase masks would be distributed to the various hotspots of 16 other directorates of NCC, other than K&L.
Today around 3000 masks were distributed to different areas and organisations in the presence of Col. Jose Kurian, Commanding Officer of 17 Kerala Battalion NCC, Pala and Fr. Joseph Malepparambil, Vicar General of Diocese of Palai.
The masks were distributed to Kuravilangad and Marangattupilly Police Stations, Taluk hospital Kuravilangad, Panchayat of Kuravilangad, Excise and Revenue Departments of Kuravilangad .
At Kuravilangad police station, the masks were collected by CI K.J Thomas and SI Deepu T.R from Col. Jose Kurian, Fr Joseph Maleparambil and Capt Sathees Thomas. At Taluk hospital, Dr. Shyam Paul collected the masks, at the Panchayat office , Panchayat president Shri. PC Kurian collected the masks . The masks were collected at Excise department by Civil Officers Sonu Sabu and Praveen Kumar from Fr Dinoy Mathew Kavalammackal, Vice Principal , Devamatha College and Capt Sathees Thomas.
At revenue department, village officer Bino Thomas collected the mask, and at
Marangattupalli Police station, ASI collected the masks.
After that, the cadets of Devamatha college distributed masks at Kanjiramkulam housing colony in the presence of Panchayat member Shrimathi. Sophie Saji and Panchayat President PC Kurian. The cadets then passed informations about the pandemic and measures of precautions to be taken against Covid-19 to the residents of the colony.
It was the last scheduled program for the day. Everywhere, the people were very happy for theservice and were in support for this initiative.
Around 15 cadets participated in the distribution program.
