Kupwara Youth embrace Fitness and Sports as Nasha Mukt J&K and Fit india Campaign gains momentum across District
Kupwara, 2 June 2026:
The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Kupwara, continues to actively organize a series of sports and awareness activities across various zones of the district in accordance with the Activity Calendar issued by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports J&K and the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan. The activities have further gained momentum following the launch of the Fit India Cyclothon, aimed at promoting fitness and healthy living among the youth.
Various zonal units are conducting sports competitions, fitness drives, cycling events, yoga sessions, awareness rallies, pledge ceremonies, and interactive programmes to educate young people about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of adopting a healthy and active lifestyle.
The initiatives are witnessing enthusiastic participation from students and youth across the district, reflecting the growing awareness regarding fitness, sports, and social responsibility. Through these programmes, the department is striving to channel the energy of youth towards constructive activities while reinforcing the message of a drug-free society.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kupwara, Mr. Sheikh Shafkat Iqbal, has been actively guiding and monitoring the implementation of these activities across all zones. Under his leadership, the department has intensified its efforts to engage youth in meaningful sporting and recreational activities, recognizing sports as a powerful tool for character building, discipline, and social transformation.
Mr. Sheikh Shafkat Iqbal reiterated the department's commitment to providing quality sporting opportunities to young athletes and ensuring maximum participation in initiatives aimed at promoting fitness, wellness, and awareness. He emphasized that the combined objectives of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan and Fit India Movement can only be achieved through sustained youth engagement and community participation.
