The Department of Electrical Engineering at Government Polytechnic College (GPC) Kulgam, in collaboration with ICT Academy, marked a significant milestone with the successful conclusion of a one-day Power Seminar on "Mastering the Art of Design and Current Trends in Engineering"
A total of 104 diploma trainees from various semesters actively participated in the enriching seminar. The event served as a platform for them to delve into the intricacies of Industry 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0. Additionally, participants gained insights into various skill and job-oriented courses, including Revit, MEP, Matlab, Autocad, CAE, E-Tab, and more.The seminar didn't just stop at technical knowledge but also included valuable training sessions on resume preparation and guidance on navigating job platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, HR Career Section, Freshers Door, Naukri.com, among others.
An insightful open discussion followed, providing a forum for diploma trainees to engage with resource persons and exchange ideas on the subject matter.

Er. Altaf Gohar, Principal of GPC Kulgam, expressed his gratitude to the organizers for orchestrating a seminar that brought immense value to the participating students. He extended his thanks to resource persons for their role in making the seminar a knowledge-packed event. Government Polytechnic College Kulgam Honors Outstanding Diploma Students and Faculty Achievements . In a grand ceremony, GPC Kulgam celebrated the remarkable academic achievements of its diploma students and recognized the dedication and excellence of its faculty members. The award distribution event was a testament to the institution's commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of academic excellence.
The highlight of the event was the recognition of three exceptional students from the Civil and Electrical Engineering departments, Humaira Yaseen, Midhat Batool, and Komal Younis, who achieved the prestigious title of "1st UT Toppers" in their recent semester exams. Their dedication and hard work have set a remarkable standard for academic excellence within the college.In addition to these outstanding diploma students, Basit Abdullah 2nd UT topper was also honored for his remarkable performance, demonstrating the institution's commitment to recognizing and celebrating excellence in all fields.

Kulgam, October 28, 2023 – Govt. Polytechnic College Kulgam, today organized an enlightening industrial visit for 25 of its electrical engg. students to the 220/132 KV TLMD IV Substation in Pampore. This visit was aimed at enhancing the students' practical understanding of power systems and electrical engineering.
The educational tour allowed students to gain firsthand exposure to the intricate components of a 220/132 KV TLMD Substation. Field engineers from the substation took the students through a comprehensive tour of the facility, highlighting various vital elements, including Line Isolators, Lightning Arrestors, Cut Transformers, Power Transformers, Bus Bars, Line Isolators, Three Post Double Rotating Scheme Isolators, Bus Couplers, Relays, Protection of Power Apparatus, Control Panels, Battery Rooms, and more.
This technical visit bridged the gap between classroom knowledge and practical applications in the field of electrical engineering and power systems.
Principal [Er. Altaf Gohar], other staff members , and the students express their gratitude to the management of 220/132 KV TLMD Substation in Pampore for their warm welcome and informative guidance throughout the visit. - The Government Polytechnic College Kulgam is delighted to announce the successful completion of an enriching one-day Industrial Tour for its 3rd and 5th-semester Diploma Trainees. The tour took place at the esteemed 3 * 35 MW Upper Sindh Hydel Power Plant stage II, offering students valuable insights into cutting-edge power generation technologies, particularly within hydel power plants. The primary objective of this Industrial Tour was to provide students with firsthand exposure to the most recent advancements in power generation, focusing on the unique aspects of hydel power plants. This tour has proven to be an invaluable educational experience for the participating students. During the visit, students were not only introduced to theoretical concepts but were also provided with hands-on learning opportunities. They were privileged to witness and actively engage in the workings of Kaplan Turbines, understand the significance of guide veins, comprehend the intricacies of 3-phase Generators, delve into the functionality of Transformers, observe the operations of switchyards, explore cabling systems, understand SCADA operations, interact with control panels, get insights into battery banks, and gain knowledge about the rating and size of the power plant. Principal GPC Kulgam Er. Altaf Gohar extended a vote of thanks to the Plant Chief Engineer, acknowledging the collaborative efforts of the college faculty that made this event a resounding success. "In the future," the Principal emphasized, "we are committed to organizing more such trips to provide our students with valuable experiential learning opportunities."
