Er Aaqib Shafi Urges Vande Bharat Halt at Anantnag

Kulgam, May 1: Er. Aaqib Shafi, Constituency Incharge Kulgam, on Thursday urged Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to approve a halt for the Vande Bharat Express at Anantnag railway station, saying the move would benefit the entire South Kashmir region.

In a statement, Aaqib Shafi said Anantnag is the most suitable location for a Vande Bharat stop in South Kashmir as it serves a large population from Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, and adjoining areas.
He said Anantnag is a key commercial and administrative hub, and a halt there would ease travel for students, traders, patients, employees, and daily commuters.

“A halt at Anantnag will make the Vande Bharat service more accessible for the people of South Kashmir and ensure better regional connectivity,” he said.

Er. Aqib urged the Railway Ministry to consider public demand and include Anantnag as an official stop in the larger interest of South Kashmir residents.
