This is one of the 141 assembly constituencies in Kerala, and one of the 12 block Panchayats in Kozhikode district. Perambra lies almost at the centre of the district covering an area of 298.43 sq.km. The block has a population of

1,71,433; (86,019 males and 85414 females). The Perambra block has seven panchayats – Changaroth, Cheruvannur, Kayanna, Koothali, Chakkittapara, Nochad and Perambra. The fast developing cosmopolitan little town, in the district of Kozhikode, rich in its culture and heritage. To go back into history, a never ending flow and settlement of many a Chivalrous and Valorous Travancore settlers that began occupancy around Perambra and about half a century back has made the present Perambra.
