Hyderabad City/Narayanagudu, Velugu: In a family where parents were struggling with debt, their son, who was studying B.Tech, entered the liquor business due to lack of money to study. He was caught by the Excise police while selling illegal liquor.
Manakala Charan (22), a native of the city, is pursuing his B.Tech in Chandigarh.
Since his parents had several businesses, he never had any financial problems. Since childhood, his studies went on without any problems. However, some time ago, his parents suffered a loss in business. As a result, they registered an IP. Charan, who was in Chandigarh, was plagued by financial difficulties. He thought about what to do as he could not even pay for his academics and hostel fees.
He said that if he brought expensive liquor from Chandigarh and sold it in Hyderabad, the problems would be solved. So he brought a non-profit liquor store and started selling it in Hyderabad. Chivas Regal and Johnnie Walker brands were sold near the YMCA Shanti Theater.
The excise police caught them while selling.
They seized 15 bottles from him. The excise police were shocked when he said that he would come twice a month and sell seven to 10 bottles and that he was continuing his studies with that money. But as per the professional ethics, the accused was arrested and the liquor bottles and the scooty were handed over to the Narayanguda excise station, said Assistant Excise Superintendent Srinivasa Rao and Excise District Task Force CI Soujanya.
