South Paravur,Kollam Paravur (Malayalam: പരവൂര്‍ Paravūr‍) is a town and a municipality in the Kollam The famous Varkala beach is a mere 15 kilometres drive from here.

Paravur is located at 8.78 N 76 E.[1] It has an average elevation of 10 metres (32 feet). Paravoor, 24 kilometres from Kollam, is a narrow skirt of land stretching in between the backwaters and the sea. There is an elevation of 6 mtrs above sea level and extending to 16 mtrs on the inland. The international shipping transit lane is about 15 nautical miles from paravur.Paravur has a natural water d

epth of 3 to 6 meters within 1 nautical mile from the land. The Beach is bit steep and not shallow at coasts. Influence of Indian Ocean Gyre, the main ocean current has ripped of most of the adjacent coast land.
