কলকাতার Wow Momo কারখানায় ঘটে যাওয়া ভয়াবহ নরহত্যা আবারও প্রমাণ করল যে মালিকদের কাছে শ্রমিকের জীবনের মূল্য কি! খোদ কলকাতার বুকে এতগুলো মানুষ পুড়ে মারা গেলেন!
শোনা যাচ্ছে, আগুন লাগার সময় শ্রমিকদের কারখানার ভেতরে তালাবদ্ধ করে রাখা হয়েছিল। বেরোতে গিয়ে তারা আটকে পড়েন। ১৬ জন শ্রমিক পুড়ে মারা গেছেন, আর ২০ জনেরও বেশি শ্রমিক এখনও নিখোঁজ।
প্রতি বছর মালিকদের লাভের লোভ ও দায়িত্বহীনতার কারণে দেশে হাজার হাজার শ্রমিক কারখানায় মারা যান। ফ্যাক্টরিজ অ্যাক্টে আগে কিছু পরিদর্শন ব্যবস্থার কথা ছিল। কিন্তু বাস্তবে শ্রমিকদের জীবন রক্ষার জন্য না আছে যথেষ্ট ইচ্ছাশক্তি, না আছে পরিকাঠামো।
আর যদি শ্রম কোডগুলি কার্যকর হয়, তাহলে পরিদর্শন ব্যবস্থাই আর থাকবে না। তখন কারখানাগুলি শ্রমিকদের জন্য মৃত্যুকূপে পরিণত হবে।

দোষী মালিকদের গ্রেপ্তার, দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত কর্তৃপক্ষের বিরুদ্ধে কড়া ব্যবস্থা, নিহত শ্রমিকদের পরিবারের জন্য যথাযথ ক্ষতিপূরণ ও পুনর্বাসনের দাবি জানাচ্ছে।
আমাদের পুড়িয়ে মারা বন্ধ হোক। এই নারকীয় হত্যার বিরুদ্ধে গর্জে উঠুন।
The mass-murder at Wow Momo Factory in Kolkata exposes the insignificant value of workers' lives to the employers.
Workers were kept locked inside, while trying to come out when fire broke - as per the report, 16 workers are burnt alive, more than 20 are not traceable still now.
Every year, thousands of workers die in factories due to lust and desperation of the employers! The existing Factories Act had some mechanism of inspection - though there exists neither will, nor infrastructure to actually protect the lives of the workers.
And if the Labour Codes are implemented, there will be no inspection system - factories will become a burning place for workers.
CITU demands immediate arrest of the employers, necessary action against the concerned authorities, compensation and rehabilitation for the families.
