Stress Management Workshop - 4.5.23

Stress Management is a core skill to be development in order to excel in any field. Trainers from the Art of Living conducted a hands-on "Stress Management Workshop" for students, teachers and non-teaching staff of the College.

This was organised by Students' Welfare Committee in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell.

Mentorship training 12.05.23

Mentors play a crucial role in enhancing students' wellbeing in an academic institution. Senior student and teacher mentors are being trained to 'take care' of junior students, and ensure that none feel alienated. A mentorship structure as per UGC norms is being made more effective.

Training provided by Anti-Ragging Committee, in collaboration with Students' Welfare Committee.

The message from his wall :

" যুব সমাজের রাগ, মন খারাপ, না বলতে পারা অভিমান যখন জমতে জমতে নিজেকে শেষ করে ফেলার মতন চরম সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়ে ফেলে আর অন্য উপায় না খুঁজে পেয়ে। তখন তা প্রকাশ পায় খবরে। তখন তা নিয়ে আলোচনা হয় চৌরাস্তার মোড়ে পার্কে দোকানে। সভা বসে টিভির রক-বারান্দায়। আচ্ছা কেমন হত যদি ওই রাগ, দুঃখ, অভিমান, কি করব বুঝতে না পারাগুলোকে শুরুতেই বেশ মন দিয়ে শুনে সাড়া দেওয়া যেত ! কেমন হত যদি সকলে মিলে বসে সব সুবিধা অসুবিধা অভাব অনুভুতি শুনে একটা সমাধানের রাস্তা বের করার চেষ্টা করা যেত ! কেমন হত যদি তাদের যার কাছে মনের কষ্টগুলো নির্দ্বিধায় বলে হাল্কা হওয়া যায় এমন কারোর সন্ধান দেওয়া যেত !

গত ২৫শে ফেব্রূয়ারি ঠিক তেমনই একটা আয়োজন হয়েছিল দক্ষিণ কোলকাতার যোগেশচন্দ্র চৌধুরী কলেজে। অ-কালবৈশাখী ভেজা মেঘলা সেই দিনেও ১০৫জন ছাত্র ছাত্রী এসেছিল শুধুমাত্র এই "A WORKSHOP ON STRESS MANAGEMENT FOR STUDENTS" যোগ দেবে বলে। 'কি জানি এখানে কি হবে' আশঙ্কা নিয়ে আসা ছাত্রছাত্রীরা প্রায় সাড়ে পাঁচ ঘণ্টার কর্মশালা শেষেও তরতাজা মুখে বাড়ি ফিরে গেল একমন ভরসা নিয়ে। যাওয়ার আগে ফিডব্যাক সেশনে উচ্ছাসের সাথে জানিয়ে গেল তারা বুঝতে পেরেছে যে তাদের মন খারাপগুলো শোনার জন্যেও কেউ কেউ আছে আর আজ সেই তাদের কাছে মনের কথা বলতে পেরে বেশ হাল্কা বোধ করছে ওরা। ট্রেইনি কাউন্সেলর হিসাবে যাওয়া আমরাও বেশ ভরসা পেলাম আমাদের সাথে কথা বলে ওদের উপকার হয়েছে জেনে।

যোগেশচন্দ্র চৌধুরী কলেজে ছাত্রছাত্রীদের মনের অবসাদ নিয়ে ওই কলেজের প্রিন্সিপাল, অধ্যাপক, অধ্যাপিকাদের সচেতনতা এবং সারাদিনের উদগ্রীব প্রয়াস দেখে আমি মুগ্ধ। শুনলাম ওই কলেজে একটি পাকাপাকি কাউন্সেলিং সেন্টারও হবে শুধুমাত্র ছাত্রছাত্রীদের প্রয়োজনের জন্যে। ঘেরাও, ধর্না, ক্লাস বয়কট, ছাত্র আত্মহত্যার আকাশে এই উদ্যোগ একটা রঙিন রামধনুর মতন। আশা করব আশপাশের সব কলেজে একদিন এই উদ্যোগ চোখে পরবে। মানসিক স্বাস্থ্যের খেয়াল রাখা যে কোন অংশেই শারীরিক স্বাস্থ্য়ের খেয়াল রাখা থেকে কম জরুরী নয় এই সংস্কৃতি আমাদের চালু করতেই হবে সমাজের সব স্তরে। বিশেষ করে যুব সমাজের মধ্যে।

Glimpses of "A WORKSHOP ON STRESS MANAGEMENT FOR STUDENTS"

After weeks of strenuous preparations, finally the workshop was successfully completed today. Thanks to the fantastic team of (14) counsellors from Counselling Centre, Jadavpur University and the 110 students whose enthusiasm defied the storms to make the workshop a grand success. A superb presentation on stress, it's consequences and the role of counselling in managing it by Dr Subhrangshu Aditya, faculty, CC, JU was followed by customised group counselling sessions.

Special thanks to Dr Pankaj k. Roy, Principal, JCC College and Prof Samar K. Mondal, Deputy Director, Counselling Centre, J.U., whose cooperation and guidance made this event a reality.

The workshop is an inauguration of a series of mental health services to be implemented yearlong in the college.
