There are currently 80 to 200 million tons of plastic polluting our oceans, according to the World Economic Forum. This is a result of humans recycling only nine percent of plastic waste and dumping 10 million tons of it into the seas each year.

Plastic waste reduction is crucial, but it must be undertaken all year round and not just before the festive season.

A new game plan for plastic pollution

We need to do more than cut back on plastic if we are to avoid a looming disaster: we need to find new uses for the material, along with ways to destroy it without ruining the environment

ZERO LANDFILL IN 2030

Landfill site, also known as a tip, dump, rubbish dump, garbage dump, or dumping ground, is a site for the disposal of waste materials. Landfill is the oldest and most common form of waste disposal, although the systematic burial of the waste with daily, intermediate and final covers only began in 1940 system
This system of waste management was adopted to take materials off the street after its primary use so to reduce environmental pollution within residential and commercial areas and that’s why most landfills are located in isolated areas. Landfill does not take care of waste pollution and is not a sustainable way to manage waste in our environment completely
Introduction of landfill as a way to manage waste becomes more reason while global waste environmental pollution becomes a great challenge in our communities over the past decades. Landfill support waste management theory called “CRADLE TO PATH” instead of “CRADLE TO CRADLE”
Cradle to path system of waste management sees management of waste from the point of collection 🡪 transportation🡪 disposal🡪 monitoring and regulation. And this does not support

1. Natural resources conservation

2. Under ground water purity maintenance

3. Air, water and land Pollution free environment

4. Reduction in green house gas emission.

This system of waste management seems to work back the because of
1.Low population

2.Small industrialization

3.bundance of natural resource

4.Low consumption

5.poor technology

6.Low standard of living.

It’s time we save our beloved environment from this system of waste management that is jeopardizing our existence and same time endangering our future generation. It’s high time we look up to the cradle to cradle system of waste management that sees waste management from the point of .Production🡪Consumption🡪 Reuse🡪Collection🡪Transportation🡪Recycling🡪Monitoring 🡪Regulation

With Landfills in Our Communities:
We will never have a pollution free environment within our communities.
Our natural resources will always be depleted beyond its carry capacity.
Our underground waters and marine bodies are not free from contamination,.
Climate change will always be a challenge with landfills in our communities.
Raw materials for new products will always be buried on daily basis
Saying yes to ZERO LANDFILL 2030 is saying yes to environmental sustainability.
Saying yes to ZERO LANDFILL 2030 is saying yes to sustainable development.
