6-Month-Old Kidnapped Baby Rescued Safely

A six-month-old baby, allegedly kidnapped from near Gariahat Flyover, has been safely rescued by Beniapukur Police Station after a determined and sustained investigation.

On 30 August 2026, the baby’s mother was allegedly lured by an unknown woman on the pretext of arranging a domestic-help job. After making her get down from a taxi at Park Circus Seven Point Crossing, the woman fled with the infant.

Acting swiftly, the investigating team analysed available footage and identified the taxi involved. The driver, Mithun Paswan and another woman, Bandana Roy, were arrested on the same day.

Further analysis of technical data and interrogation led the team to the prime accused, Madhu Sk, who was arrested in the early hours of 31 August from her residence under Bakultala Police Station, Baruipur Police District.

The six-month-old child was recovered safely and reunited with the family.

Further investigation is underway.

Lost Bag Recovered, Citizen Reassured

On 29.08.2026, a senior citizen approached Amherst Street Police Station after losing her handbag while getting out of her cab at Biplabi Pulin Das Street. The bag contained her mobile phone and approximately ₹30,000 in cash.

Acting swiftly, police examined CCTV footage and traced the suspect to his residence on A.P.C. Road. On being questioned, he confessed and returned the handbag intact, containing the mobile phone and ₹31,500 in cash.

As the lady had already returned to Salt Lake, her son collected the recovered belongings on her behalf and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the police.

Illegal Fi****ms Seized, One Held

Acting on credible intelligence regarding the illegal sale of fi****ms, officers of Behala Police Station swiftly conducted a raid at Nalapukur Road at around 22:30 hours on 26.08.2026.

The operation led to the arrest of Rabi Barick, from whose possession two illegal fi****ms and two empty magazines were recovered. Unable to provide any satisfactory explanation for possessing the fi****ms, the accused was taken into custody.

A specific case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act. The seized fi****ms and magazines have been secured and taken into custody for further investigation.

Produced before the Learned Court, the accused has been remanded to Police Custody till 31.08.2026. Further investigation is underway.

₹30 Lakh Jewellery Theft Cracked | Entire Haul Recovered from Jharkhand

Gold and diamond jewellery worth approximately ₹30 lakh was stolen from a residence in the Tiljala Road area between 14.07.2026 and 11.08.2026, with suspicion falling on one of the domestic servants, Dhupan Paswan.

During the investigation, a team from Beniapukur PS meticulously examined the available evidence, including CCTV footage from the residence. His statements revealed several inconsistencies and contradictions, further strengthening the suspicion against him.

The accused was arrested on 24.08.2026. During sustained interrogation, he eventually confessed to the offence. Acting on his disclosure, the investigating team proceeded to his native village under Jamua PS, Giridih, Jharkhand. Despite repeated attempts by the accused to mislead the police and conceal the stolen property, the team persisted.

Further interrogation ultimately led the team to his in-laws’ residence under Pachamba PS, Giridih, where, on 26.08.2026, the entire stolen jewellery, weighing approximately 194 grams, was recovered and seized.

Tied with Trust | Rakhi Bandhan at Lalbazar

Lalbazar witnessed a celebration of love, trust and togetherness today as the Community Policing Wing of Kolkata Police organised a special Rakhi Bandhan Utsav.

50 Pranam members and 110 children from Nabadisha and Brahma Kumaris joined the celebrations and tied Rakhis on the wrists of Kolkata Police personnel-turning a cherished tradition into a heartfelt expression of the bond between the police and the community.

The programme was graced by Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, Shri Ajay Nand, IPS, along with senior officers, who shared in the warmth and spirit of the occasion.

Awareness that Matters

Yesterday, an awareness programme was conducted in the Bansdroni PS area, bringing together officers and personnel of South Suburban Division, Bansdroni PS, Cyber PS, Lalbazar, Regent Park Traffic Guard and the Durga Suraksha Squad Patrolling Team.

The awareness rally began at Boral Hater More, passed through Brahmapur Badamtala More and culminated at Niva Ananda Vidyalaya, followed by an interactive session with members of the public.

Participants were sensitised on cybercrime prevention and women’s safety, along with the functioning of the Women Help Desk, Cyber Helpline and Durga Suraksha Squad and their role in protecting women, children and senior citizens.
