Vivekananda Child Development Fund - The programme primarily focuses on child development activities for the deprived children belonging to backward and downtrodden families of remote villages of West Bengal, India. It is an initiative to secure assistance from compassionate individuals and organizations in supporting the children who are deprived from their minimum basic need of education owing

to poverty, negligence and social inhibitions. The development initiatives of the programme has supported more than 1000 children so far by providing educational assistance from preprimary to Degree level since its inception in the year 2000. Vision: To make better human beings with higher values from disadvantaged and downtrodden children of our motherland. Mission: The programme aims to ensure the right to survival and right to get education of poor and neglected children by mobilizing resources from benevolent donors for their empowerment and upliftment. Objective: Holistic development of children through standard quality education from Pre-Primary to minimum secondary level in the First Phase, co-curricular activities, value education and generation of awareness among parents towards educational, health & nutritional needs of their children. Higher education is also provided to successful and needy students. Description: Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad is one of the biggest development institute of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Howrah, West Bengal, India. It believes in holistic development approach in which ‘child’ plays the central role as child is the supreme asset of the nation. The children living in remote and mostly inaccessible villages are in a dehumanized condition as they are half fed, left uncared, malnourished, insecure. The gloomy state of the children prompted us to launch “Sponsor Relation Programme” in the year 2000. It was launched by most revered Srimat Swami Ranganathanandaji Maharaj, the then President of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission. It has now been over a decade that the programme is running these activities tirelessly with support from generous donors from all over the world, devoted team members and its acceptance and participation of village level volunteers and parents. Swamiji’s ideals for making ‘Education’ touch the lives of all has been the greatest source of inspiration for the programme. The beneficiaries under the purview of the programme are mostly first generation learners. They belong to families where their parents are mostly agricultural labour, daily wage earners, cultivators, rickshaw pullers, carpenters, masons, small businessmen, hawker, driver etc. Services in Brief:
Survey for selection of children is done by expert team members of VCDF. Sponsorship support is given in three phases; First Phase – Preprimary to Class X level, Second Phase – XI & XIIth standard and Third Phase – Graduation or Degree level. Seek support from donors towards sponsorship of education of deprived children. Sponsors are also communicated about the annual progress of their sponsored children.
