River Ganga is not just a river for Indians its has interlinked with our sentiments and every Indian consider to take a holy dip in Ganga once in life time.
Here is a brief on Prof GD Awarwal's sacrifice for Ganga for your information and for circulation. Pls go through his Wikipedia to know glimpse of his contribution to our society

Sri GD Agarwal alias Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand, an IIT Kanpur engineer, a renowned scientist, doyen of environmental engineers in India, former First Member Secretary (CPCB) etc.. etc. Smt Indira Gandhi ji identified him and kept him as the first Member Secretary of Central Pollution Control Board to protect the environment. Ever since he is engaged himself to safeguard the rivers of the country especially River Ganga which is considered the most pristine river flows from Himalayas. He fought and gone on hunger
Sri GD Agarwal, yet again put his life on the line for the Ganga. Today is his 23nd day day of his fast, time is running out this Government promised 4years ago by no less than the Prime Minister, declared himself the son of Ganga and to make the river Aviral ((flowing adequately)) and Nirmal ((pure and unpolluted)) but nothing has happened.
The last government stopped all projects under construction such as Loharinag-Pala Hydropower and two other projects and all developments on river Bahirathee to save Ganga. This government has an opportunity to do the same on the Alaknanda but there is no attempt towards it. That is the reason that Prof GD Agarwal is fasting and put his precious life is in great danger for Ganga & for the nation. Let the Government, wake up, stand up and act immediately.
Like it had happened in the cases of Sant Nageswar Nath & Sant Nigmanand Government had tried to isolate him and tried to sabotage the struggle of Sri G D Agarwal, I warn the Government he cannot neglect Sri GD Agarwal as the entire country is aware of his contributions and will not keep quiet if anything happens to his life.
At right time Uttarakhand High Court (on 11thof July 2018) had directed the Government to disclose his location, shift him to AIIMS Rishikesh and hold parleys with him on the issue in complete bonhomie within 12 hours. I really appreciate Uttarakhand High Court to up-keep the justice by this bold judgement and save the life of Shri G D Agarwal
I also appreciate Dr. Rajendra Singh, Sri Harish Rawat and all the river activists across the country came to Delhi and hold prayers in Rajghat and also trying their best to bring the issue to the attention of the nation. All the river activists & humanrights activists have planned for a yatra from Rishikesh to Delhi and going to have a meeting Rajghat in Delhi 20thJuly 2018. I will join them at Rajghat on 20thJuly 2018 in support of Sri GD Agarwal.
After our prayers at Rajghat on 11th July, a day long deliberations with river activits across the country yesterday, today DrRajendra Singh, Prof Vikram Soni, Mr. Sanjay and myself met Shri Sharad Yadav ji and Shri Rahul Gandhi ji explained and appraised the situation.. urged them to take immediate measures and both are aware of the contributions of Sri GD Agarwal have agreed to do the needful to save Ganga and the save the life of Sri GD Agarwal.

We also urge Mr Modi to act immediately on this issue and save the life of Shri G D Agarwal we will certainly take it up in the Parliament Session.
