Feast Day of St. Anthony of Padua: A Celebration of Faith, Service, and Compassion

The Feast Day of St. Anthony of Padua was observed with great devotion and a spirit of charity by the The Catholic Association of Bengal (CAB), continuing the saint's legacy of love, service, and care for those in need.

As part of the celebrations, a special bread distribution drive was organized, symbolizing St. Anthony's enduring tradition of sharing blessings with the less fortunate. The blessed bread was distributed across several homes run by the Missionaries of Charity, founded by St. Teresa of Calcutta.

The distribution reached various Missionaries of Charity centers, including Shanti Dham, Prem Dhan, Kalighat, and the Mother House, bringing joy and nourishment to many residents and beneficiaries.

This noble initiative was led by the President of the Catholic Association of Bengal, Mrs. Angelina Mantosh Jasnani , along with dedicated members Mrs. Maureen Antony and Mrs. Lynette Hilt , whose commitment and compassion ensured the successful ex*****on of the service activity.

St. Anthony of Padua is revered worldwide as a patron saint known for his humility, wisdom, and deep concern for the poor. Through this act of sharing and service, the Catholic Association of Bengal honored his teachings and reaffirmed its commitment to serving society with faith and compassion.

The celebration served as a reminder that true devotion is expressed not only through prayer but also through acts of kindness and generosity. By extending support to those cared for by the Missionaries of Charity, the Association embodied the spirit of St. Anthony and carried forward the mission of love and service that both St. Anthony and St. Teresa exemplified.

May the blessings of St. Anthony of Padua continues to inspire all to serve humanity with open hearts, compassion, and unwavering faith.

On this Good Friday, we bow our heads in reverence before the Cross, remembering the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. His journey of suffering and love is not only a testament of faith but also a call to each of us—to walk humbly, to serve selflessly, and to embrace one another with compassion.

As a community, we gather in prayer and reflection, united in gratitude for the redemption offered to humanity. May this day inspire us to deepen our commitment to justice, mercy, and peace, carrying forward the light of Christ into the world.

Let us hold close the words of Scripture: “By His wounds, we are healed.” May the solemnity of Good Friday strengthen our spirit and prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter.
