NSS Derozio Memorial Collage

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the NSS Unit of Derozio Memorial College, in collaboration with the NCC Unit of the College, organized a vibrant “Har Ghar Tiranga” programme on the college premises. The programme commenced with the garlanding of the bust of H.L.V. Derozio, followed by the hoisting of the Indian National Flag and singing of “Vande Mataram.” The birth anniversary of renowned freedom fighter Sri Aurobindo Ghosh was also observed with due respect.

A Tiranga Rally was organized with the enthusiastic participation of more than 200 students and 75 teachers and non-teaching staff members. The rally reflected the spirit of patriotism, national unity and respect for the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. After the rally concluded, all participants joined together in singing the National Anthem, marking the successful completion of the celebration with pride and patriotic fervour.

As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, a seminar on the Remembrance of the Partition of West Bengal was organized by NSS Units I & II of Derozio Memorial College on 14th August2026. The programme aimed to remember the painful history of Partition and to create awareness among students about its historical significance.

A special lecture was delivered by Dr. Aparajita Dhar, Department of History, Burdwan University. She highlighted the historical background of the Partition, its impact on society, and the sacrifices and sufferings of the people.

The NSS Units also organized a cultural programme featuring patriotic songs, which created a spirit of patriotism and national unity. A large number of NSS volunteers, teachers, and non-teaching staff attended the programme and actively participated in it. Their enthusiastic participation made the event meaningful and a grand success.

The NSS Unit of Derozio Memorial College actively participated in the 150th Unity March commemorating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 11.11.2025. NSS Unit organised an extempore competition. After the event, all students and teachers took a pledge to uphold unity and integrity. Following the pledge, everyone participated enthusiastically in the Unity March held within the college premises.
