HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE “CHILDREN DRAW PEACE” WORKSHOP!
The Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata was delighted to visit St. Johns Diocesan Girls’ Higher Secondary School to conduct an interactive “Children Draw Peace” Workshop.
The workshop was part of a broader city-wide initiative where the Consulate General of Italy – in association with Missione Calcutta has engaged with 12 different schools across Kolkata to unite young children through art.
Supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), in collaboration with the Municipality of Stazzema and the Colors of Peace Association, the Project Empowered children to share their vision of global harmony and unity.
Working with the students at St. John’s Diocesan was an absolute joy! Our team was deeply touched by their enthusiasm, creativity, and remarkable talent. Each of the drawing reflected a unique, heartfelt perspective on peace.
As the artworks enter the international selection phase, we extend our warmest wishes to all participating students. We hope to witness several creations from schools in Kolkata to be selected to represent India on global platforms during the UN International Day of Peace celebrations at the Roman Colosseum!
A heartfelt thanks to all the schools which were part of the programme, the faculty, the students and St. Johns Diocesan Girls’ Higher Secondary School for their gracious hospitality.

Supported by the Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata, the Italian Cultural Institute of New Delhi and with the collaboration of the Alliance Française du Bengal, this cross-cultural initiative brought exceptional contemporary dance to the 6th edition of Kolkata’s Dance Bridges Festival 2026. 🇮🇹🇫🇷🇮🇳
Dancers and choreographers Francesco Colaleo and Maxime Freixas (Cie MF) took the stage with their piece, Re-Garde—a striking Franco-Italian collaboration defined by physical precision, fluid movement, and creative synergy. The performance examines how mirrors and reflections shape our everyday interactions and psychological projections.
Wishing Francesco and Maxime the very best as they continue their performance tour across India! 👏✨

Art, faith, and cultural dialogue in motion! 🕊️🎭🇮🇹🇮🇳

Echoing the national celebrations taking place across Italy to honor Saint Francis of Assisi, the Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata is proud to commemorate his legacy in India by paying homage to the richness of Indian art and dance.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Father Saju and his wonderful troupe of Indian dancers. From their initial performances in Kolkata and Bihar, across key venues in Italy and Europe, to their upcoming show in North-East India later this month, this journey stands as a profound tribute to a great Italian of the past through the beauty of Indian culture.

By translating his timeless message of peace and fraternity into expressive movement, the troupe has beautifully embodied his spirit. Ahead of the historic 800th Centenary of Saint Francis, this initiative serves as a profound testament to the cultural rhythm connecting Italy and India/beautifully weaves together the artistic heritage of Italy and India.

Auguri e buon lavoro! We wish Father Saju and his ensemble every success for their future performance in North-East India and beyond!
