I am President of Tele Ophthalmology Society of India & Past President of All India OPHTHALMOLOGICAL Society ( AIOS) .

NATIONWIDE WITHDRAWAL OF SERVICES.

I discussed with Mr. D Sivanandhan , IPS retd, former Director General of Police regarding PROTECTION of Women Doctors on duty .

OUR SUGGESTION :

We Insist on what is doable for prevention of crimes against women doctors .
Of course , it is primary responsibility of the state governments to protect the citizens and the doctors . But , the recurring brutal crimes against doctors (particularly women doctors) has to be prevented . Asking for hanging punishment of the accused doesn’t bring the victim
Alive . So , let us focus on prevention.

Since , the arms act insists on getting a license to posses a stun gun , WE FROM ALL DOCTORS ASSOCITIATION demand the govt to issue stun guns to all big govt hospitals , medical colleges and big private hospitals.
Act.

IMA and all Medical
Doctor’s association to pressurise the govt to relax this rule and get bulk licenses issued for using TASER GUNS by women doctors on duty with responsibility .
Now is the time to bring pressure . Spread amongst associations all over the country.

Let us please
suggest a fully charged Taser gun (stun gun- it’s totally non lethal) for all women doctors on night duty . The cost should be borne by the govt /establishment . It should be in working order .

Under Indian Arms Act, 1956 stun guns and tasers are illegal to own and are considered as prohibited arms under Section 25 (1A) of the Arms

Yes of course . Section 44 of the Bharatiya nyaya Sanhita says anybody could go o the extent of killing the accused if his intent is to r**e the women as part of the “ right of private defence “ . Here we are asking for a non lethal weapon only.

I hope , in addition to NATION WIDE WITHDRAWAL OF SERVICES , this exemption for women doctors to possess a stun gun should be brought to force.
