Interstate Farmers’ Exposure Visit on Cashew
As part of a seven-day training-cum-interstate exposure visit programme on cashew cultivation, organized by Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University through its Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amadalavalasa, a group of 50 farmers and farm women from Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh, visited the Directorate of Cashew and Cocoa Development, DCCD, on March 25, 2026. The programme was funded by the Directorate of Cashew and Cocoa Development, Government of India, under the MIDH scheme for the year 2025–26. Dr. V. Hari Kumar, SMS (Horticulture), KVK, Amadalavalasa , served as the nodal officer for the exposure visit.
The primary objective of the visit was to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers in cashew cultivation by introducing modern and efficient farming techniques. The programme also emphasised post-harvest processing methods, particularly value addition of cashew apples, to improve product quality, productivity, and farmers’ income. Dr Femina, Director of DCCD, delivered an informative presentation outlining the activities of the Directorate. She also discussed the current status of cashew and cocoa cultivation in India, with special reference to Andhra Pradesh. An interactive session followed, during which farmers actively engaged with discussion, clarified their doubts related to cashew cultivation, and gained insights into improved practices and technology dissemination.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the informative sessions, particularly the guidance on cashew and cocoa cultivation practices and the emphasis on technology transfer programmes aimed at strengthening the farming community.
