The iPhone 18 Pro Max, expected to launch in late 2026 alongside with the Pro, and Apple's first foldable iPhone Ultra, is widely rumored to retain its 6.9-inch display while focusing on meaningful upgrades in brightness, efficiency, and overall screen design. Rather than increasing size, Apple appears to be refining the existing form factor to deliver a more advanced visual experience.
In terms of specifications, the display is expected to remain at 6.9 inches, consistent with the previous generation. However, peak brightness could surpass the current 3,000-nit threshold, marking a significant leap in outdoor visibility. The device will likely continue to feature a 1Hz to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate via ProMotion, enhanced by next-generation LTPO+ technology for improved efficiency. The panel itself is expected to remain a Super Retina XDR OLED, with Samsung continuing as the primary supplier.
Among the key upgrades, brightness stands out as the most notable. Reports suggest Apple is pushing for “unprecedentedly high” luminance levels, potentially setting a new benchmark for smartphone displays. This would further enhance usability in direct sunlight and HDR content performance.
Efficiency improvements are another major focus. With LTPO+ technology, the iPhone 18 Pro Max may achieve better power management during high refresh rate usage, such as 120Hz scrolling, while also optimizing energy consumption for always-on display functionality.

The iPhone Pro Max lineup has steadily expanded its display footprint, growing from 6.5 inches in 2019 to 6.9 inches by 2026.
