ADC Billawar Vishavjeet Singh Visits Landslide Site at Galak

: ADC Billawar visited the landslide-affected site at to assess the situation and take stock of the damage caused by the recent landslide.

During the visit, he inspected the affected area and reviewed the ongoing measures being taken to restore connectivity. He also directed concerned officials to ensure necessary safety measures for local residents and expedite restoration work.

Udhampur–Dhar Road to Be Four-Laned After 53 Years

: The strategically important 130-km – road is set to be upgraded from two lanes to four lanes, 53 years after its construction. The ambitious project is estimated to cost around ₹3,000 crore, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) expected to be prepared within a year at an estimated cost of ₹6 crore.

The road connects Udhampur on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway with Dhar village on the – Highway in , providing an important alternative route to the Jammu–Pathankot and Jammu–Srinagar highways.

The proposed widening will substantially increase traffic capacity and improve connectivity. The existing stretch has 48 bridges and two minor tunnels, with bridge strengthening and duplication works already undertaken at several locations.

The project will include a wider carriageway, a central median to enhance road safety, and slope stabilisation measures to reduce landslide risks along vulnerable hilly stretches.

Given its strategic importance, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) currently maintains the road, while the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has entrusted the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) with preparation of the DPR.

Officials said the proposal had remained pending earlier due to technical issues. However, the route's strategic importance has grown amid evolving security challenges in the Jammu region following Operation Sindoor. The road has also been used for the movement of troops and logistics to remote areas.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said the widening process would be expedited, noting that the project would strengthen regional connectivity, facilitate public movement and further reinforce national security and defence preparedness.

GDC Ramkote organises intra-college painting competition to mark I-Day celebrations

: As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 80th Independence Day, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ramkote today organised an intra-college painting competition in the college premises.

The event was organised under the guidance of Principal Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of BA semester Ist and 3rd who showcased their artistic talent and creativity through paintings reflecting the spirit of patriotism, national unity, cultural heritage and the ideals of freedom. The participants presented a variety of thought-provoking artworks highlighting themes such as "Unity in Diversity," and "India's Freedom Struggle".

The competition concluded with the evaluation of paintings by the judging panel comprising Prof Pankaj Nandan and Prof Suresh Chander. Naresh Singh of BA semester 1st, Lalita Devi of BA semester 1st and Tanu Devi of BA semester 3rd secured first, second and third positions respectively. The winners were felicitated for their exceptional performances.

कठुआ-बिलावर सड़क पर बेयानी नाले पर बनेगा नया हाई-टेक पुल

#कठुआ-बिलावर सड़क पर स्थित महानपुर के निकट बेयानी नाले पर सीमा सड़क संगठन (BRO) द्वारा एक नया हाई-टेक मॉडल पुल बनाया जाएगा। इस पुल के निर्माण का उद्देश्य सभी मौसमों में निर्बाध और सुरक्षित यातायात सुनिश्चित करना है। नए आधुनिक पुल के बनने से बरसात के दौरान आने वाली यातायात बाधाओं में कमी आएगी और स्थानीय लोगों के साथ-साथ यात्रियों को भी बड़ी राहत मिलेगी। यह परियोजना क्षेत्र की सड़क संपर्क व्यवस्था को और अधिक मजबूत बनाएगी।

#रामकोट चौगान मेले में आयोजित रंगारंग सांस्कृतिक संध्या के दौरान मशहूर गायक बिशन दास ने अपनी शानदार प्रस्तुति से दर्शकों का भरपूर मनोरंजन किया। अपने लोकप्रिय गीत ‘ज़िंदगी सोहनी ऐ’ के लिए प्रसिद्ध बिशन दास के मंच पर आते ही दर्शकों ने तालियों और जयघोष से उनका स्वागत किया।
