Team IGVC, IIT Kanpur, a student team of undergraduate students, mentored by Prof. Mangal Kothari stood 3rd in the AutoNav Challenge among 37 International Teams at the 27th Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition, held in Michigan.
The AutoNav competition involves navigating completely autonomously through an unknown outdoor obstacle course. Outdoor navigation is a very current research problem that introduces many new challenges not faced in indoor robotics.
Apart from AutoNav, the team also participated in the Interoperability Profiles Challenge (IOP) and the Cyber Security Challenge, where the team achieved 3rd and 4th ranks respectively. The team has been ranked 2nd in the Grand Challenge.
The team consisted of, Vaibhav Agarwal (Team Head), Harsh Sinha (Senior Member), Shah Aalap Anil (Senior Member), Hemanth Bollemreddi (Senior Member), Nitik Jain (Member), Kishan Shukla (Member), Apurva Nandan (Member), A***n Chaudhary (Member).
