Parivartan, the social wing of IIT Jodhpur, was formed on September 12, 2010, by the students and faculty of IIT Jodhpur. As the name suggests, the team is committed to bringing a change in the lives of deprived people and the last persons of society.
Parivartan had conducted several summer camps for school students ranging from rural to the urban community, debate and discussion forum called “SOCH” on (i) anti-corruption (ii) gender equality, and (iii) addiction.
Parivartan also had a collaboration with Stanford University, REALM: Realizing Engineers' Aspirations for the Last Man, Woman, and Child.
This academic year, Parivartan will adopt a village. Milestones and Deliverables to Develop a Model Village by 2020:-
1. Navodaya Exam Preparation for the village children
2. Basic Education and Life-Skills to village children
3. Tree plantation drives
4. Medical camps
5. Awareness programs on Education, Health, Hygiene, Addiction, etc
6. Establishment of rural library
7. Energy sustainability via solar lamps, fans, and pumps in the model village
8. Collection of clothes, medicines, books, stationery from IITJ fraternity and distribution to needy
9. Economic sustainability by teaching women and youth of the village to handle jobs like creating handicrafts, recycling papers, plastics, etc.
10. Sustainability of water via water recycling and purification
11. ‘Spread Happiness’ program
Parivartan seeks a substantial change in the society. Apart from academics, such activities form an integral part of a student's overall holistic development and bring out a much responsible global citizen in him/her.
