Project RISE Makes Impactful Change in Udhampur”

Jammu & Kashmir Bank has launched Project RISE (Respecting Identities | Supporting Equalities), a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at promoting gender sensitivity, equality, and mutual respect among young students. The initiative is being implemented by Live For Others – Being Helpful Foundation (LFO-BHF) as part of a broader outreach programme across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Following its successful implementation in multiple districts, Project RISE has now been extended to Udhampur district, further strengthening efforts toward grassroots-level awareness and inclusive social development.

Under Project RISE, a series of gender sensitization and self-defence awareness sessions were conducted across various educational institutions in Udhampur district, including Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Battal Ballian (Resource Person: Mr. Vivek Parihar); Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Tikri (Resource Person: Mr. Vivek Parihar); Prashant Public Higher Secondary School (Resource Person: Ms. Stuti Abrol); and Bhartiya College of Education (Resource Person: Ms. Rubina Jamwal) where a total of 1300 individuals were sensitized through these programmes.

The sessions primarily focused on promoting gender equality, encouraging respect for diverse identities, fostering inclusive behaviour, and raising awareness about personal safety.

Alongside the sensitization sessions, self-defence awareness programmes were also organized to build confidence among participants, enhance their understanding of personal safety, and equip them with basic practical techniques for self-protection.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Vivek Parihar, Director & CEO of LFO-BHF stated that Project RISE reflects the shared commitment of Jammu & Kashmir Bank and LFO-BHF towards promoting social responsibility and inclusive growth. Jammu & Kashmir Bank has launched Project RISE (Respecting Identities | Supporting Equalities), a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at promoting gender sensitivity, equality, and mutual respect among young students. The initiative is being implemented by Live For Others – Being Helpful Foundation (LFO-BHF) and is part of a larger programme planned across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Following its successful implementation in other districts, Project RISE has now been extended to Shopian district, further strengthening grassroots-level awareness and inclusion.

Under Project RISE, a series of gender sensitization and self-defence awareness sessions were organized across various educational institutions in Shopian district, including Govt. Higher Secondary School, Imam Sahib (Resource Person: Ms. Aparna); Govt. Higher Secondary School, Kanjiullar (Resource Person: Ms. Aparna); Govt. Higher Secondary School, Narpora (Resource Person: Ms. Rubina Jamwal); and Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Shopian (Resource Person: Mr. Abhishek Raina) where a total of 3040 individuals were awared during the seminars.

The sessions focused on issues related to gender equality, respect for diverse identities, inclusive behaviour, and personal safety.

In addition to sensitization talks, self-defence awareness sessions were conducted with a focus on building confidence, enhancing personal safety awareness, and imparting basic practical safety techniques.

Speaking on the initiative, Resource persons collectively , stated that Project RISE reflects the strong commitment of both the NGO and Jammu & Kashmir Bank towards social responsibility and inclusive development. They emphasized that nurturing awareness about gender sensitivity and personal safety among young minds is crucial for building a just, safe, and progressive society. School, Jawahar Nagar; Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Kothi Bagh, Srinagar; Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Amirakadal; and Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. Institute, Sonwar, where a total of 3,555 individuals were sensitized across all four institutions in Srinagar district. The sessions were conducted by Ms. Rubina Jamwal & Mr. Vivek Parihar, who sensitized students on issues related to gender equality, respect for diverse identities, inclusive behaviour, and personal safety.

“J&K Bank Extends Project RISE to Ramban District with LFO-BHF”

Jammu & Kashmir Bank, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative Project RISE (Respecting Identities | Supporting Equalities), successfully conducted a series of gender sensitization and self-defence awareness sessions in Ramban district. The programme was implemented by Live For Others – Being Helpful Foundation (LFO-BHF) as part of its ongoing outreach across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, with a focus on promoting equality, respect, inclusion, and personal safety among students.

Under Project RISE, sessions were organized at Govt. Model Hr. Sec. School, Batote; Kamal Academy Hr. Sec. School, Chanderkote; PM Shri Govt. Girls High School, Ramban; and PM Shri Govt. Girls High School, Batote. The sessions were conducted by resource persons Mr. Abhishek Raina and Ms. Aparna, who sensitized a combined total of 1,462 students across these institutions.

While interacting, the resource persons shared, “The sessions focused on creating awareness about gender equality, encouraging respectful behaviour, and fostering inclusive mindsets among students. The self-defence component aimed at boosting confidence, enhancing personal safety awareness, and equipping students with basic practical self-defence techniques. This combined approach ensured both theoretical understanding and practical learning.”

The programme witnessed active participation from students, teaching staff, and school authorities across Ramban district. The engaging discussions and practical demonstrations were highly appreciated, highlighting the importance of sensitivity, safety, and responsible behaviour in everyday life.
