A significant step towards data-driven governance and evidence-based policymaking in Jammu & Kashmir.

As part of its "NITI for States" initiative, NITI Aayog has launched a pilot in Kulgam District to strengthen governance through data-driven decision-making and improved state support mechanisms.

The workshop was chaired by Shri Shahzad Alam, Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, along with Dr. Amrit Pal Kaur from NITI Aayog and Utkarsh Srivastava (Assistant Section Officer), bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on building a more responsive, accountable, and technology-enabled governance ecosystem.

The sessions highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in modern governance and development planning, showcasing AI-based tools developed by NITI Aayog to support evidence-based decision-making and citizen-centric service delivery.

Officials from CITaG, Dr. Sandeep Ananthanarayanan (CEO, CITaG), Amir Wani, Tanveer Dar, Iqra Farooq, and Dr. Sushma Kaushal, were privileged to participate in this landmark event, which marks a significant step towards strengthening data-driven governance and collaborative policymaking in Jammu & Kashmir.

During the event, the CITaG Team had the opportunity to meet Shri Shahzad Alam and discuss the transformative opportunities this initiative (NITI TARA) can create for the Union Territory through innovation and institutional collaboration.

CITaG looks forward to contributing to the vision of smart, data-driven, and citizen-centric governance, supporting sustainable and inclusive development across Jammu & Kashmir.

CITaG, IIM Jammu, had the opportunity to attend the keynote address delivered by Dr. M. Srinivas, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, on “Digital Solutions for Good Governance & Transparency in Medical Institutions”, organized by the Indian Institute of Management Jammu.

The session provided valuable insights into how digital transformation, AI/ML, cybersecurity, and data-driven governance frameworks are strengthening transparency, institutional efficiency, and patient-centric healthcare systems across medical institutions.

Discussions around Procurement Digital Library (PDL), IT modernization, digital governance, and future-ready healthcare ecosystems aligned with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 highlighted the growing role of technology in public sector transformation.

The session served as an enriching platform for understanding emerging governance innovations and the future of technology-enabled healthcare administration.

Centre for Innovation and Transformation in Governance (CITaG), IIM Jammu, the NITI Aayog SIT for J&K, presented the draft Renewable Energy Policy to JAKEDA and the Department of Science and Technology on 29-Apr-2026, in the presence of senior officials including CEO, JAKEDA (Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency), Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, and other officials from the Department of Science and Technology and JAKEDA.

The policy presentation was led by Mr. Ratan Ranjan, Specialist, CITaG, and Dr. Sandeep Ananthanarayanan, CEO, CITaG. The discussion focused on aligning renewable energy pathways with the unique geographical, institutional, and developmental context of Jammu & Kashmir.

The members appreciated the framework and provided valuable inputs towards developing a more customized and implementable policy for the Union Territory.

CITaG IIM Jammu continues to support evidence-based policymaking by bridging academic expertise with institutional requirements.

The Centre for Innovation and Transformation in Governance CITaG, IIM Jammu represented by the Agriculture Specialist - Dr. Purushottam Hendre had the opportunity to participate in a high-level agriculture sector meeting held at the APD Wing, where he engaged in two rounds of insightful discussions with Shri Abdul Majid, Director Planning, and Shri Anil Gupta, Director Agriculture, Jammu.

The interactions provided a valuable perspective on the Government of Jammu & Kashmir’s approach to agricultural planning and reaffirmed that CITaG’s initiatives are well aligned and moving in the right direction.

The discussions focused on three key areas:
• Impact evaluation and output monitoring of HADP and JKCIP
• Strengthening online marketing infrastructure for improved farmer access
• Climate and disaster risk mitigation through risk transfer mechanisms, particularly the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance for horticulture crops.

The meetings concluded on a very positive note, with both directors expressing strong support for collaboration and extending active institutional backing to CITaG. Their encouragement to their respective teams further strengthens the pathway for meaningful partnerships.

CITaG looks forward to continued engagement to translate these discussions into concrete, high-impact interventions for the agriculture sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

CITaG CEO - Dr. Sandeep Ananthanarayanan and Specialists - Malavika Jamwal & Abhijeet Sharma engaged in a detailed discussion with Commissioner Secretary, HUDD, Ms. Mandeep Kaur on ongoing and pipeline Public Private Partnership projects, with a key focus on housing infrastructure development in Jammu and Kashmir. The deliberations were aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, as envisioned by the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, aimed at driving inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the region.

CITaG had a productive engagement with the Building Materials and Technology Promotion Council to explore advanced construction technologies and innovative methodologies.
