Additional Deputy Commissioner (also the District Census Officer), Vidhu Shekhar, visited the training batch organised by the Rural Charge Officer (Tehsil Jammu South) at Puran Resort along with the Additional District Census Officer, SDM and Tehsildar Jammu South.

He interacted with Enumerators & Supervisors and stressed strict adherence to SOPs and guidelines for smooth conduct of House Listing Operations (HLO) under Census 2027.

He also highlighted the importance of self-enumeration and urged field staff to guide and motivate the general public for maximum participation.

Shop sealed in Channi under COTPA Act

As part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under , the District Administration today conducted surprise raids at multiple locations across the district.

The raids were carried out to check the sale and storage of e-cigarettes/ vapes and other prohibited items under the COTPA Act.

During the drive, one shop at Channi, namely Maa Laxmi Super Store, was sealed on the spot for violation of norms and goods worth over ₹10 lakh, including around 350 e-cigarettes were seized, in presence of Additional District Magistrate Vidhu Shekhar, SDM Jammu (South) Manu Hansa and Tehsildar Bahu, Raju Sambyal.

It is pertinent to mention that use of e-Ci******es is banned in India, under The Prohibition of Electronic Ci******es Act, 2019.
