Hon’ble MLA Jammu North, Shri Sham Lal Sharma, inaugurated the month-long at Purkhoo, Sub-Division Marh, and called upon youth to become ambassadors of sustainable agriculture. More than 300 farmers and stakeholders participated in the awareness programme aimed at promoting soil health, Natural Farming, balanced fertilizer use, and climate-resilient agricultural practices. The programme was attended by Joint Director Agriculture (Farms/SLUB), Shri Aman Jyoti Sharma; District Agriculture Officer Jammu, Shri Vinod Khajuria; SMS (DL), Shri Sham Khajuria; and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Marh, Shri Khalid Hassan Tantray, along with members of Youth Clubs under JKCIP, NATS Krishi Veers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), progressive farmers, PRI members, and officers and field functionaries of the Department of Agriculture.

Under the directions of Director Agriculture Jammu, Shri Anil Gupta, the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu has constituted Divisional-Level Committees headed by Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Shri Sanjay Anand, and Joint Director Agriculture (Farms/SLUB), Shri Aman Jyoti Sharma, for the effective implementation and monitoring of the month-long “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” from June 1 to June 30, 2026. During a meeting held today, June 1, 2026, JDA (Extension) outlined the campaign strategy and reporting mechanism, while JDA (Farms/SLUB) emphasized close coordination among Chief Agriculture Officers (CAOs) and field officers for the successful implementation of the campaign across Jammu Division.

The Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu today organized a farewell function at Krishi Bhawan, Jammu to honour Shri Madan Lal, Regional Level Subject Matter Specialist; Shri Gopal Krishan, Head Draftsman; Ms. Manju Gupta, Field Assistant-III; Shri Madan Lal, GCEO; and Shri Jeet Singh, Driver, on their superannuation after decades of dedicated service. Director Agriculture Jammu Shri Anil Gupta, along with senior officers and staff, appreciated their valuable contributions towards agricultural development and farmers' welfare and extended best wishes for a healthy, peaceful and fulfilling life ahead. Mementoes were presented to the retirees as a mark of respect and recognition for their long-standing service to the department.

On the occasion of 2026, Director Agriculture Jammu Sh. Anil Gupta extends warm greetings to all farmers, scientists, agriculture professionals, FPOs, and stakeholders.

This year's theme, "Where Potatoes Grow, Livelihoods Flourish," reflects the vital role of potato cultivation in strengthening food security, nutrition, and rural livelihoods. In Jammu Division, potato is an important crop cultivated in both hilly and plain areas, covering nearly 2,945 hectares, and providing livelihood support to thousands of farming families.

I appreciate the efforts of our farmers and stakeholders in adopting improved potato varieties and modern cultivation practices. The Agriculture Department Jammu remains committed to promoting quality seed production, scientific farming, and sustainable agricultural growth.
