Kishtwar, June 02, 2026:

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and narcotics-related offences under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, District Police Kishtwar has attached a vehicle worth approximately ₹26 lakhs under the provisions of Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act and also registered a case regarding illegal cultivation of poppy plants in the jurisdiction of Police Post Drabshalla.

SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh-JKPS, while sharing the details, stated that during the investigation of FIR No. 90/2026 registered under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act at Police Station Kishtwar, it surfaced that a Minibus bearing Registration No. JK06C-5714, owned by Mudasir Hussain S/o Mehraj-ud-Din R/o Om Mehta Road, Tehsil and District Kishtwar, was allegedly acquired from the proceeds of illicit narcotic drug trafficking.

Accordingly, after following the due legal procedure prescribed under the NDPS Act, the said vehicle has been attached under Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act, 1985.

Moreover, Police Post Drabshalla destroyed illegal poppy cultivation belonging to Sameer Ahmed S/o Late Ajaz Ahmed R/o Khori Saroor, Drabshalla. In this regard, FIR No. 131/2026 under Section 8/18 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation has been initiated.

SSP Kishtwar reiterated that under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Kishtwar Police is committed to dismantling the entire drug trafficking ecosystem by targeting not only drug peddlers and traffickers but also the assets, proceeds, and illegal cultivation associated with narcotics-related crimes. He emphasized that strict legal action shall continue against all persons found involved in drug trafficking, illegal cultivation of narcotic substances, and related offences.

He further appealed to the public to cooperate with the police and share information regarding drug trafficking, illegal cultivation of narcotic plants, and other unlawful activities. Kishtwar Police remains steadfast in its commitment to making the district drug-free and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all citizens.

KISHTWAR POLICE CRACKS DOWN ON DRUG MENACE: NOTORIOUS DRUG PEDDLER AND HIS WIFE ARRESTED; HEROIN-LIKE SUBSTANCE AND CASH RECOVERED


Kishtwar, May 21, 2026:

Continuing its intensified drive against drug menace under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, District Police Kishtwar has taken strict action against drug peddlers operating in the district.

*SSP Kishtwar* stated that reliable information was received regarding possession and sale of heroin-like substance by notorious drug peddler Rameez Raja @ Tarif Janda S/O Abdul Qayoom Sheikh R/O Sarkoot and his wife Nobia Begum from their residence, upon which a case FIR No. 113/2026 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act was registered.

On this information, a special team led by SHO PS Kishtwar, assisted by PSI, along with the Magistrate and under the supervision of Dy. SP Hqrs Kishtwar, conducted a raid at the residence of the accused. During the house search, 7.5 grams of heroin-like substance along with cash amounting to ₹87,000/- was recovered from their possession. Both the accused were arrested on the spot after completing all legal formalities.

*SSP Kishtwar* stated that under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Kishtwar Police has further intensified its crackdown on drug-related activities and is committed to eliminating the menace of drugs from society through sustained and firm action. He added that investigation in such cases is being carried out comprehensively to trace forward and backward linkages, scrutinize bank transactions, and identify other associates involved in the illegal drug network to dismantle the entire nexus, while reiterating the firm commitment of District Police Kishtwar towards achieving a drug-free society. He also appealed to the general public to come forward with any information regarding drug-related activities, assuring complete confidentiality.

Jammu (Rural) Police Continues Anti-Drug Drive; One Person Held with Heroin-Like Substance.

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan, Jammu (Rural) Police achieved another success by apprehending one person involved in drug peddling activities in the jurisdiction of Police Station Akhnoor.

A police party of Police Station Akhnoor while conducting naka checking at Khuga noticed a suspicious person riding a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02DT-7336. On seeing the police party, the suspect attempted to flee from the spot.

Acting swiftly, the police team chased and apprehended the accused. During his search, 5.35 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession.

The accused was identified as:

Ved Prakash @ Sucha S/O Puran Chand R/O Daskal, Akhnoor.

Accordingly, FIR No. 129/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation is underway.

J&K ACB Traps and Arrests Vaseem Ahmad Hap, Forest Guard of Forest Division Marwah, Kishtwar for Demanding and Accepting Bribe of ₹15,000

Jammu 01 June, 2026: A written complaint was received by ACB alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 from the complainant for expediting the release of security deposits related to allotted works. After negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept ₹15,000 as illegal gratification.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau seeking legal action against the accused official.

Upon receipt of the complaint, ACB conducted a discreet verification which established the prima facie demand of bribe by the accused public servant. Consequently, FIR No. 07/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered at Police Station ACB Central, Jammu, and investigation was initiated.

During investigation, a trap team was constituted by ACB. The team laid a successful trap and caught the accused public servant namely Vaseem Ahmad Hap S/o Manzoor Ahmad R/o Hidyal, Kishtwar, presently posted as Forest Guard and looking after accounts work in the office of Divisional Forest Officer, Forest Division Marwah, red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹15,000 from the complainant. The accused was immediately arrested on the spot, and the bribe amount was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witnesses associated with the trap team.

Subsequently, searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused government employee in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
