Divisional Level Inter District Competitions in the discipline of
Shooting Boys U-17, 19 yrs gets underway at Delhi Public School
Shooting Range today
In all 23 competitiors drawn from five districts viz Reasi, Samba,
Jammu, Udhampur & Doda are competiting for top honours
As a part of Annual Calender of activities of the department the
competitions are being organized under the overall supervision of Sh.
Ashok Kumar Dy. Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu and Sh. Tirath
Ram District Youth Services & Sports officer, Jammu who is also
organizing Secretary of the Tournament.
The Technical Sport is being provided by Police Department Jammu and
Infrasturctural facilities i.e. shooting range and other alied
facilied are being provided by D.P.S. Jammu.
Sh. Sudhershan Sonar Principal DPS Public School was the chief Guest
and declared open the 2 day long competitions in a simple & well
attended function.

While addressing the shooters the chief guest said that shooting
requires tremendous amount of concentration to shoot the target &
hoped that shooters who have come from various districts will achieve
the target with great amount of success. Lateron he wished the
shooters the best of luck in the competitions.

Earlier Sh Ashok Kumar, Dy. Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu
visited the venue and took stock of the arrangements for the smooth
conduct of shooting competitions. While welcoming the participants to
the city of temples he said that shooting competitions at district
level are being held for the first time by the department of youth
services & sports Jammu and assured the participants that from next
year the Department of Youth Services & Sports Jammu shall be
organizing this event at departments’ own shooting range at Nagrota
which is near completion.

The Divisional Level Inter-District Competitions in the disciplines of Table Tennis, Teakowondo and Wrestling for Boys and Girls all age groups concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Sh. Jaipal Singh, Director Youth Services and Sports, J&K was the chief guest on the valedictory function and distributed trophies, medals and certificates among the winners and runner-up teams.
Speaking on the occasion JP Singh said that representing district teams enables the players to get opportunity to interact with the student players of other participating districts and hone their skill. He further said that field staff posted in various institutions must ensure that teams of their institutions do participate actively. He also asked them to be fair with the players and do justice during trials and selections of teams. He further said that department shall take tough measure against those officials who do not perform duties as per the satisfaction of superiors.
While taking serious note of poor performance of the players at National Level he said that new strict and transparent selection policy shall be made during the selection of State National Teams. He also said only those teams shall be sent for National School Games participation whose performance have remained quite satisfactory during last three years.
Earlier Sh. Ashok Kumar Dy. Director, Jammu presented the welcome address and also gave brief report of the tournament. While addressing the participants, he said that the department of Youth Services & Sports has finished most of the activities with record no. of 23 events with participation of 2760 players at Divisional Level apart from few. He further said that the performance graph of J&K State at national level has tremendously increased during last three years and presently our state is occupying 15th rank at national level.
