National Police Day Observed with Solemnity Across Jammu Zone

Jammu, October 21, 2025: National Police Day, popularly known as Police Commemoration Day, was observed with solemnity and reverence across all districts of Jammu Province. The day marks the remembrance of ten brave personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on October 21, 1959, while defending the nation’s frontiers at Hot Springs, Ladakh.

Commemorative functions were organized in all ten districts of Jammu Zone, where senior police officers, retired personnel, members of martyrs’ families, and representatives from civil society gathered to pay homage to the fallen heroes. The atmosphere at each venue was one of deep respect and gratitude, reflecting the collective pride and emotion of the police fraternity and the public.

3. The main zonal function was held at the Police Parade and Advanced Training Ground, Gulshan Ground, Jammu, where Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, took the ceremonial salute at the Commemoration Day Parade. The event witnessed the presence of Hon'ble MLAs, officers from all Jammu-based units, senior and retired police officers, members of the media, and prominent citizens from various walks of life.

During the ceremony, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, read out the names of 191 martyrs from the Police and Central Armed Police Forces, including the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, NCB, NDRF, and Fire & Emergency Services, Civil Defence, and Home Guards, who laid down their lives in the service of the nation over the past year. Among them were 14 brave personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The IGP lauded their courage and commitment, noting that their sacrifice remains an enduring symbol of duty, honor, and devotion to the motherland. In his address, the IGP praised the Jammu and Kashmir Police for its remarkable record of service, courage, and professionalism in some of the most challenging operational environments in the country. He stated that the force continues to stand as a bulwark of national security and public safety, often performing duties at great personal risk and under extreme conditions. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and extended heartfelt wishes for the well-being of their families.

6. Following the parade, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti interacted personally with the next of kin (NOK) of the martyrs present at the ceremony. He listened to their concerns and assured them that their welfare remains a top priority for the Police Department. He directed officers to ensure timely resolution of the issues raised and reiterated that the department remains committed to standing beside the families of its martyrs in every possible way.

Earlier in the morning, all Jammu-based Senior Officers assembled at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial, Rail Head Complex, Jammu, where floral tributes were paid to the martyrs amid the sounding of the Last Post. The site, adorned with wreaths and flowers, stood as a symbol of honor and remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

8. As part of the commemoration, a blood donation camp was organized a day earlier, at the Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground Jammu. Senior police officers, staff, and volunteers participated enthusiastically, donating around 125 units of blood to mark the occasion as an act of service and humanity, reflecting the spirit of sacrifice that defines the police force.

9. Prominent guests included Hon'ble MLAs, senior officers of the Army and J&K Police, retired senior officers, and distinguished members of civil society. Their participation reflected the broad-based respect for the police martyrs and the deep bond between the force and the public it serves.

10. In the evening, an impressive candle-light ceremony was held at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial, Rail Head Complex, Jammu, where a large gathering of police personnel, their families, and citizens paid glowing tributes to the martyrs. As hundreds of candles flickered in unison, the atmosphere was charged with emotion and reverence, symbolizing that the light of sacrifice and service of the brave hearts continues to guide the Jammu and Kashmir Police in its unrelenting commitment to duty, honor, and the nation.

IGP Jammu Zone Promotes 1,520 Police Personnel on Diwali

Jammu, October 20, 2025: On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, a festival symbolizing light, hope, and new beginnings, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Sh. Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, today issued promotion orders for 1,520 police personnel across various ranks in the Jammu Zone. This significant move recognizes the dedication, competence, and professional excellence of the officers/officials.

2. The promotions encompass multiple ranks across the force, reflecting a structured career progression for deserving personnel. These include 10 Assistant Sub-Inspectors promoted to Sub-Inspector, 4 Head Constables elevated to Assistant Sub-Inspector, 874 Selection Grade Constables promoted to Head Constable, and 632 Constables elevated to Selection Grade Constable. These advancements mark an important milestone in the professional journeys of the officers, acknowledging their years of service, tireless efforts, and commitment to upholding the values and reputation of the Jammu Police.

3. The IGP said that through initiatives such as these promotions, the Jammu Zone Police remain committed to nurturing talent, recognizing merit, and motivating personnel to continually perform their duties with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a deep sense of civic responsibility. J&K Police Observes Police Commemoration Day with Blood Donation Camp at Police Auditorium, Jammu

Jammu, October 20, 2025:- As part of the observance of Police Commemoration Day, the Jammu and Kashmir Police organised a Blood Donation Camp at the Police Auditorium, Gulshan Ground, Jammu, on Monday. The camp was inaugurated by Sh Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, and was organised under the supervision of IRP 15th Battalion.

2. The initiative was a humble tribute to the brave martyrs of the Jammu and Kashmir Police who laid down their lives in the line of duty. It also aimed to promote the values of service, sacrifice, and compassion, which form the foundation of the Police force. Police personnel from various wings, battalions, and district units across Jammu Zone participated with great enthusiasm, donating blood as a gesture of solidarity and humanitarian commitment. A total of 125 police personnel voluntarily donated blood during the camp.

The event was graced by senior officers including Dr Ajay Misri; Sh Vinod Kumar, IPS, DIG IRP Jammu; Sh Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, DIG Jammu-Kathua-Samba Range; Mrs. Sargun Shukla, IPS, Commandant IRP 15th Battalion; Sh Joginder Singh, JKPS, SSP Jammu, Sh Shamsheer Hussain, JKPS, SO to IGP Jammu and several other officers of Jammu Zone, whose presence added encouragement and significance to the occasion.

4. The camp was organised in coordination with the Police Hospital, Jammu, under the guidance of the Medical Superintendent, whose team of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff ensured proper medical care, hygiene, and safety protocols throughout the event.

5. Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu, Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, IPS, appreciated the overwhelming response and voluntary participation of police personnel in the camp. He stated that holding such an event on the eve of Police Commemoration Day is a noble way to remember and honour the supreme sacrifices of J&K Police martyrs by serving humanity and saving lives in their memory.

He further highlighted that the Jammu and Kashmir Police continues to remain at the forefront of humanitarian and community welfare initiatives, reflecting its enduring ethos of service, sacrifice, and compassion. The event concluded with expressions of gratitude for all the donors, officers, and medical staff whose collective efforts made the Blood Donation Camp a meaningful tribute to the valour, dedication, and selfless service of the Jammu and Kashmir Police martyrs being commemorated on this solemn occasion.

Every year, on October 21 the nation observes Police Commemoration Day, a solemn occasion dedicated to paying tribute to the sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty.

At national level, the Police Commemoration Day event is held at the National Police Memorial (NPM) in New Delhi.

During this event, the names of police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty during the last one year are solemnly read aloud. The occasion also witnesses a joint parade involving Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Delhi Police.

The program at the National Police Memorial (NPM) will commence at 0800 hrs, and it will be live telecasted on DD News. For those unable to attend in person, the event can also be viewed via webcast at URL-webcast.gov.in/mha/ib

Pertinent to mention that, Police Commemoration Day serves as a reminder of the unwavering commitment and bravery displayed by security forces/Police personnel who risk their lives to maintain law and order, safeguard citizens, and protect the nation.
