As directed by Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra and District Congress Committee (DCC) Rajouri President Shri Ashok Sharma, the Indian National Congress Thanamandi Unit today held a strong protest in Thanamandi under the leadership of Shakeel Ahmed Mir (General Secretary, JKPCC and former Chairman, Municipal Committee Thanamandi) against the BJP-led Central Government.
The Congress Unit strongly condemned the continued increase in the prices of LPG, petrol and diesel, which has placed an additional financial burden on common citizens, farmers, transporters and small business owners. The rising cost of LPG cylinders is making it increasingly difficult for ordinary families, particularly women and low-income households, to manage their daily household expenses.
Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders stated that the BJP Government has failed to provide relief to the people despite the continuous rise in the cost of essential commodities.
The Congress Party demands immediate measures from the Government to reduce fuel and LPG prices and provide much-needed relief to the people, who are already struggling with rising inflation and increasing household expenses. The party reiterated that it stands firmly with the people and will continue to raise its voice against policies that burden the common man.
The protest witnessed a huge gathering and was attended by senior Congress leaders, former Sarpanches, former Panches, former Councillors and members of civil society. Prominent participants included Maneer Bhatti, Mohd Aslam Khan, Gafoor Ganai, Haji Hamid, Farooq Mir, Gulbadan Khan, Mohd Nazir Choudhary, Qayoom Mir, Sharoz Mir, Mujtaba Wani and Raja Ganai, among others.
