The Director of Sports Authority of Arunachal, Shri Gumnya Karbak, interacted with the athletes, team officials and members of All Arunachal Pradesh Arm Wrestling Association (AAPAWA) in connection with their participation in the upcoming 4th National Arm-Wrestling Championship 2026 to be held at Gandhinagar from 29th May to 2nd June 2026. The interaction programme was held at the SAA Conference Hall, Chimpu.

On the occasion, the Director distributed and presented the official team track suits to the Arm Wrestling athletes and team officials as part of the team send-off programme.

Earlier, experts from North East Sports Foundation conducted a Sports Psychology Session for the athletes and team officials aimed at strengthening mental preparedness, confidence and competitive focus ahead of the National Championship.

President of All Arunachal Pradesh Arm Wrestling Association, Mrs. Pakjar Taipodia, was also present during the programme.

The Sports Authority of Arunachal extends its best wishes to the Arunachal Pradesh Arm Wrestling Team for a successful performance at the championship.

With this remarkable feat, she also becomes the 4th athletes from Arunachal Pradesh to qualify for the Asian Games 2026, a proud milestone for the State’s sporting history. Notably, in the previous edition held at China, three Wushu players from Arunachal Pradesh had qualified for the Asian Games, though they could not participate due to visa-related issues.

The Hon’ble Chairman of Sports Authority of Arunachal, Shri John Neelam, interacted with the Cadet, Junior, Senior & Veteran Grappling athletes during the Interaction Programme held at the SAA Conference Hall, Chimpu, Itanagar, and extended his encouragement and best wishes to the team.

Prior to the interaction programme, a Sports Psychology Workshop for the athletes was also conducted by the team from the North East Sports Foundation, focusing on mental strength, confidence building, motivation, and competitive preparedness for the upcoming national championship.

A total of 25 athletes from Arunachal Pradesh will be participating in the prestigious championship. During the programme, the Sports Authority of Arunachal provided Team Track Suits to the athletes and officials for their participation in the event.

The Chairman encouraged the athletes to compete with discipline, dedication, and true sportsmanship while representing the State at the national level. Shri Dari Lokam, Wrestling Instructor, Sports Authority of Arunachal, will accompany the team as Coach.

Director, Sports Authority of Arunachal, President, Secretary, and Executive Members of the Grappling Association of Arunachal Pradesh were also present during the interaction programme.

The Sports Authority of Arunachal conveys its best wishes to the entire contingent for a successful and commendable performance at the championship.

The Sports Authority of Arunachal congratulates the Sports Authority of India, Sports Training Centre, Naharlagun, for emerging as the Overall Champion of the 29th Kyorugi & 11th Poomsae State Level Taekwondo Championship – 2026, held from 7th to 10th May 2026 at Gyaptong Regional Stadium, Rupa, West Kameng District.

SAI STC Naharlagun delivered an outstanding performance by securing 18 Gold, 6 Silver, and 5 Bronze medals. Capital Complex finished as the Runner-Up with 16 Gold and 10 Silver medals, while Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy secured the 3rd position with 15 Gold, 15 Silver, and 9 Bronze medals.

The championship witnessed the participation of more than 600 athletes from 20 districts across Arunachal Pradesh, reflecting the growing popularity and development of Taekwondo in the state.

The closing ceremony was graced by Lobsang Tseten, ADC Rupa and DK Dinglow, Retd. Director, Dept. of Sports & Youth Affairs who appreciated the efforts of the Arunachal Taekwondo Association in promoting Taekwondo and nurturing young talent.

Earlier, during the opening ceremony held on 8th May, Tseten Chombay, Hon'ble Kalaktang, expressed pride over Arunachal Pradesh gaining recognition in Taekwondo Poomsae at both National and International levels. Emphasising the championship theme — “Drugs Chhoro, Khel Se Jodo” — he encouraged youths to stay away from drugs and actively engage in sports and positive activities.

The championship was organised by the Arunachal Taekwondo Association in association with the West Kameng District Taekwondo Association.

🏋️‍♂️ 10th State Level Bodybuilding Championship 2026 Concludes Successfully in Itanagar 🏆

The 10th State Level Bodybuilding Championship 2026 concluded successfully on 9th May 2026 at the D.K. State Convention Centre, Itanagar, witnessing an impressive display of strength, discipline, dedication and sportsmanship from athletes representing various districts and fitness centres across Arunachal Pradesh.

The championship was organised by the Arunachal Bodybuilding Association (ABBA) under the aegis of the Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF) and the Northeast Body Builders Federation (NEBBF), with support from the Sports Authority of Arunachal.

The event was graced by Shri Wangki Lowang, Hon’ble Minister for Geology, Mining & Minerals, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Likha Soni, Hon’ble MLA of 48th Lekang Constituency, as the Guest of Honour.

Renowned bodybuilder Arambam Boby Singh was also present among the audience, while Karthikeswar Ravikumar captivated the crowd as the guest poser. International gold medalist Hillang Yajik along with several members of the fitness fraternity also attended the championship.

The judging panel included Pema W.D. Bhutia, Tashi Ongmu Lepcha and Nepram Kishan Singh. National judges Atul Chetia, Prasanta Borah, Pankaj Borah and state judge Sushil Bordoloi also contributed their expertise, enhancing the technical standards of the championship.

The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Tame Peter Tarh as “Mr Arunachal 2026” in the prestigious Champion of Champions category.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh conducted a comprehensive review meeting on sports activities, initiatives, and upcoming events at the Conference Hall, CMO-II, Niti Vihar, Itanagar.

During the meeting, the Hon’ble Chief Minister emphasized a collaborative and result-oriented approach towards strengthening the sports ecosystem and assured full Government support for the welfare and development of athletes.

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Pema Khandu, John Neelam, Chairman, Sports Authority of Arunachal, Tadar Yayang Bengia Vice Chairperson SAA reaffirmed that the Authority will work in close coordination with State Sports Associations for the overall upliftment of sports in Arunachal Pradesh.

Senior officials and stakeholders, including Sports Authority of Arunachal, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, and Arunachal Olympic Association, presented key inputs through PPT presentations.

Focus areas included grassroots development, infrastructure upgradation, support to para athletes, increased national and international participation, and creating pathways for excellence.

The Sports Authority of Arunachal reiterates its commitment to building a stronger, inclusive, and high-performance sporting ecosystem in the State.
