Workshop on Human-Wildlife Conflict was successfully conducted on 4th April, 2026 at D.K. Convention Hall, bringing together key stakeholders, experts, and community representatives to deliberate on the growing challenges of human-wildlife interactions in the region.
The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Executive Chairman, Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA), whose presence added significance to the occasion and underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing human-wildlife conflict.
The workshop featured insightful sessions by distinguished resource persons including Prof. (Dr.) Bikash Bage, Head of the Department of Sociology and Nodal Officer, Tribal Research Institute, Rajiv Gandhi University; Dr. Tajum Yomcha, Research Officer (Wildlife), PCCF; Shri Kime Rambia, Range Forest Officer, Keyi Panyor District; Dr. Kuntala Roy Choudhury, Assistant Professor, Royal Global University; along with legal experts Adv. Nega Tayeng (LAC) and Adv. Sum V. Darang.
The discussions focused on the socio-legal dimensions of human-wildlife conflict, preventive strategies, community participation, and the role of legal awareness in mitigating such conflicts. Emphasis was laid on strengthening coordination between forest departments, legal institutions, and local communities.
The workshop witnessed active participation from various Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) of Arunachal Pradesh, members of Law Students’ Unions, law students, as well as Gaon Burahs and Buris, reflecting a diverse and inclusive engagement from grassroots to academic levels.
The event concluded with a collective resolve to enhance awareness, promote sustainable coexistence, and strengthen legal and institutional mechanisms to effectively address human-wildlife conflict in the state.

NAHARLAGUN, Mar 20: The Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) inaugurated a Legal Aid Clinic at Arunodaya University on the occasion of the Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) Induction Training Programme held on March 20, 2026.

APSLSA Member Secretary Yomge Ado formally inaugurated the clinic in the presence of Deputy Registrar Kumod Kumar Jha, HoD (Law) Mantu Acharjee, along with advocates, faculty members, law students, and staff.

The programme witnessed the active participation of over 100 enthusiastic attendees. Resource persons highlighted the importance of legal aid services and the role of PLVs in ensuring access to justice at the grassroots level.

On 30th March, 2025, Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) organized a one-day legal awareness programme at Manjushree Vidyapith School (A Community School in Tawang), Tawang. The event was held in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tawang and District Administrative, Tawang, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).The esteemed gathering was greeted warmly by Padmashree Awardee Lama Thupten Phuntsok, Founder Director of Manjushree Vidyapith. He expressed appreciation for hosting the awareness camp.Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Service Authority hosted a prestigious gathering of dignitaries, led by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai, Judge, Supreme Court of India, and Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). Hon'ble Mr. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge, Supreme Court of India, and Mentor, (APSLSA), included Hon'ble Mr. Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court, and Patron-in-chief, APSLSA, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Suman Shyam, Judge, Gauhati High Court, and Executive Chairman, APSLSA. Hon'ble Mr. Justice Soumitra Saikia and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Devashis Baruah, Judges, Gauhati High Court, Guwahati also graced the programme. Hon’ble Mr. Justice B.R. Gavai praised Manjushree Vidyapith's humanitarian services and emphasized the importance of legal education in shaping a just society. He also highlighted Tawang's historical and spiritual significance, noting its connection to the 6th Dalai Lama. The legal awareness camp aimed to promote legal awareness and educate students and locals on their rights and responsibilities.The event concluded with a technical session conducted by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tawang, which elaborated on NALSA schemes and other pertinent welfare initiatives. Smti. Mary Jonnom, Secretary, DLSA West Kameng, and in-charge DLSA Secretary, Tawang, delivered the vote of thanks, bringing the successful event to a close. Over 100 students, parents, staffs, teachers and dignitaries participated.
