District Tourism Officer, ICR & Papum Pare Marks National Tourism Day–2026
Itanagar, 24th January 2026: The District Tourism Office, Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) and Papum Pare, under the guidance of Smt. Rechi Lugnya Likha and Smt. Deboti Lowang Takam, District Tourism Officers, observed National Tourism Day–2026, themed “Digital Transformation in Travel, Sustainability & Inclusive Growth,” through a series of awareness programmes aimed at promoting clean, responsible, and sustainable tourism.
As part of the lead-up activities to National Tourism Day, which is officially observed on 25th January, the celebrations commenced with a Poster Making Contest on Sustainable Tourism held on 22nd January 2026 at Abotani Vidya Niketan, Pachin. Students enthusiastically participated and creatively expressed the importance of sustainability, environmental conservation, and responsible travel practices.
This was followed by a Cleanliness Drive on 23rd January 2026 at Borum Market and Naharlagun Railway Station, focusing on maintaining hygiene and cleanliness at public places and key tourist transit points, while also sensitizing the public on the importance of clean surroundings for tourism development.
The observance culminated with a Youth Street Play on Clean Tourism on 24th January 2026 at Akash Deep Complex, Itanagar performed by the students of Rajiv Gandhi university. The street play effectively conveyed messages on the harmful impacts of plastic pollution and emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens in preserving tourism destinations for future generations.
