Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh today warmly felicitated Judoka Km. Linthoi Chanambam, who won the Gold Medal at the Asian Cadet and Junior Judo Championships held in Amman, Jordan, at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The Chief Minister congratulated Linthoi for her outstanding performance at the international sporting event, which has brought laurels to Manipur and the country. Her remarkable achievement has added yet another feather to her cap and is a matter of pride for the State.

Judoka Km. Linthoi Chanambam also presented a souvenir to the Chief Minister as a gesture of appreciation.

MLA of Mayang Imphal Shri K. Robindro Singh; Director, YAS, Dr. M. Veto Singh; President, Manipur Judo Association, Shri Bijoy Koijam; and Linthoi’s parents were present during the felicitation.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand visited the residence of late Shri Chongtham Vikram Singh at Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, Imphal, who tragically passed away in New Delhi. The Chief Minister conveyed his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased and prayed for strength to help them bear this irreparable loss.
He assured the family that the Government stands firmly with them and will make every effort to ensure that justice is delivered at the earliest.
Hon’ble MLA of Thangmeiband, Shri Khumukcham Joykisan Singh, was also present during the visit.

CHIEF MINISTER KHEMCHAND SINGH CONDEMNS KILLING OF MANIPURI MUSICIAN IN DELHI, CALLS FOR SWIFT JUSTICE

Imphal, September 08: Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh today expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Shri Chongtham Vikram, a respected musician and music teacher from Manipur, who died following a brutal assault at his residence in Kilokri, New Delhi.

Strongly condemning the senseless and brutal act of violence, the Chief Minister said that no one should have to face such violence or lose their life simply for seeking peace in their own neighbourhood.

Shri Khemchand Singh said that the tragic incident is a painful reminder of the safety concerns faced by people from the Northeast who live, study and work in the national capital. He stressed that such incidents must not be treated as isolated cases.

Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh has also written to Smt. Rekha Gupta, Delhi Chief Minister, requesting to conduct a fair, time bound, high level investigation under the direct supervision of senior police leadership. He also requested to apprehend all perpetrators and conspirators without delay and prosecuted to the fullest extent of law.

On the community safety measures, the Chief Minister also requested to take reinforced security measures across localities with significant populations of students and working professionals from Manipur and other north eastern states.

Shri Khemchand Singh extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, friends and loved ones of the deceased, as well as to the entire Manipuri and Northeast community. He conveyed that his thoughts are with them in this hour of immense grief.
