APPREHENDED TWO PERSONS INVOLVED IN GOLD MANGALSUTRA SNATCHING CASE
HABEEBNAGAR PS, ASIF NAGAR DIVISION, SOUTH WEST ZONE, HYDERABAD

The sleuths of Habeebnagar Police Station, Asif Nagar Division, South West Zone, Hyderabad, apprehended two habitual offenders involved in a Gold Mangalsutra Snatching case that occurred on 04.10.2025 at about 17:40 hrs at Seetharambagh, Afzalsagar, Hyderabad, within the limits of Habeebnagar Police Station.

Details of the Case:

Date of Occurrence: 04.10.2025 at 17:40 hrs
Place: H. No. 11-1-890/2, Seetharambagh, Afzalsagar, Hyderabad

Details of Accused Persons: -
A1) Mohammed Saddam, S/o Mohammed Hussain, Age: 32 yrs, Occ: Carpenter,
R/o Back side of Al-Saba Hotel, Syed Azam Colony, Mallepally, Hyderabad.
A2) Upadey Shiva, S/o Upadey Raju, Age: 31 yrs, Occ: Housekeeping at Niloufer Hospital, R/o 11-1-1113/A/126, Afzal Sagar, Nampally, Hyderabad.
Seized Material: -
1) Gold Mangalsutra weighing 2.6 tulas (Pustaltadu – 2.2 tulas & Pustalu – 4 grams)
2) Cash of rupees 34100/- only.
Facts of the case: -
On 04.10.2025, the complainant Smt. Daramolla Nagamani, W/o Daramolla Vajraya, Age: 58 yrs, Occ: Garlic Business, R/o Seetharambagh, lodged a complaint stating that while she was alone at home, an unknown person came to her house asking for the price of garlic. When she was weighing 1 kg of garlic, the person suddenly snatched her gold mangalsutra and fled from the spot.
Basing on her complaint, a case in Cr. No. 211/2025 U/s 304, 329(4) BNS was registered and taken up for investigation.
During investigation, credible information was received on 05.10.2025 at about 23:30hrs that the accused persons were at there residence. Acting swiftly, the team led by DSI M. Ashok Kumar, PS HabeebNagar, along with crime staff apprehended the accused A1 & A2.
Upon interrogation, both the accused confessed to their involvement in the said offence. The stolen Gold mangalsutra weighing 2.6 tulas was recovered from the possession of A1 under the cover of a panchanama.

Modus Operandi:-

A1 is a habitual offender involved in more than 30 cases of theft and snatching across various police stations in Hyderabad City. After his release from jail in August 2025, A1 along with his friend A2 hatched a plan to commit thefts for easy money. A2 informed A1 about the victim who stays alone during daytime. As per their plan, A1 approached the house on the pretext of purchasing garlic while A2 was at his residence. A1 snatched the gold mangalsutra from the victim’s neck and fled from the scene.

Previous History of A1 & A2:
A1) Mohammed Saddam is previously involved in more than 30 property offence cases under various PSs like Abids, Humayun Nagar, Saifabad, Panjagutta, Nampally, Narayanguda, LB Nagar, Meerpet, Uppal, and others.
A2) Upadey Shiva is previously involved in Cr. No. 240/2021 U/s 326 IPC of PS Habeebnagar.
Arrest and Remand:
Both the accused A1 & A2 were arrested on 06.10.2025 at 04:00hrs and produced before the Hon’ble Court for Judicial Remand.
Apprehension:

Under the supervision of Sri G. Chandra Mohan, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, South West Zone and Sri Krishna Goud, Addl. DCP, and directions of Sri. B. Kishan Kumar, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Asif Nagar Division, the accused persons A1 to A2 were apprehended by Sri S. Saidulu, Det. Inspector of Police, Sri M. Ashok Kumar, SI of Police, and crime staff C. Ravi (PC 5056), B. Srikanth (PC 8326), Md. Rasheeduddin (ARPC 10387), Niyaz Ahmed (PC 30580) of Habeeb Nagar Police Station, SWZ South West Zone.
Team has been rewarded by the cash by Sri G. Chandra Mohan, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police, South West Zone.

Today, i.e., on 24.06.2025, an Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign was organized at Government Junior College, Bazarghat, Nampally.

In this program, Respected ACP Asifnagar Sri Vijay Srinivas sir attended as the Chief Guest. He addressed the students on the harmful effects of drug abuse and advised them not to indulge in drug consumption. He also appealed to the students to immediately report any information related to drug activity to the police.
