National Handloom Day | Telangana Governor greets weavers

On the occasion of National Handloom Day, Hon'ble Governor of Telangana Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla extended his heartfelt greetings to the weavers of the State.

In a message, the Governor described handloom as a proud symbol of India's cultural heritage and hailed Telangana's weavers as master artisans whose dedication, skill and creativity have earned national recognition. He said the renowned Pochampally Ikat, Gadwal, Narayanpet, Sircilla and Kothakota handloom traditions reflect Telangana's rich textile legacy.

"Our weavers are the custodians of our culture. Their craftsmanship has preserved our heritage and brought lasting recognition to Telangana's handloom tradition," the Governor said.

He also called upon people to encourage and support the handloom sector by choosing handwoven products and honouring the tireless efforts of the weaving community.

Hon'ble Governor Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla and Smt. Janaki Shukla today visited the Sri Samatha Murthy Spiritual Centre at Muchintal and offered prayers at the 216-foot Statue of Equality dedicated to Jagadacharya Bhagavad Ramanujacharya.

The Governor described the visit as a deeply spiritual experience and lauded Sri Ramanujacharya's timeless message of equality, harmony and universal brotherhood. He observed that the Samatha Murthy Spiritual Centre stands as a beacon of social inclusiveness and spiritual enlightenment for generations to come.

During the visit, the Governor met His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, who presented him with books on the life, philosophy and teachings of Bhagavad Ramanujacharya.

In the visitors' book, the Governor wrote:

"My visit to the Sri Samatha Murthy Spiritual Centre has been a deeply spiritual experience. I had the opportunity to experience the essence of equality firsthand. My heartfelt compliments to Swamiji, Jeeyar Swamiji and the entire team for creating this magnificent spiritual centre."

My Bharat, Red Cross enrolment should be intensified: Governor

Hon'ble Governor of Telangana Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla chaired a review meeting with Vice-Chancellors of State universities at Lok Bhavan and called for mission-mode implementation of My Bharat registrations, Red Cross enrolment, and the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan.

The Governor urged universities to intensify enrolment drives, appoint nodal officers and student ambassadors, and actively involve NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross and students in achieving Telangana's targets before the stipulated deadlines.

He emphasised that a drug-free, healthy and socially responsible youth is the foundation of Viksit Bharat–2047 and called upon educational institutions to play a leading role in building an addiction-free India.

On the occasion, the Governor also unveiled awareness posters promoting the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign.
