🏵️ Acharya Shri Bhagwant Kalyansagar Surishwarji Maharaj Saheb.
Today is his sacred birth anniversary…
The eminent influencer of Achalgaccha, the great Acharya Shri Kalyansagar Surishwarji was born on the auspicious day of Samvat 1633, Vaishakh Sud 6. From childhood, this महान soul possessed brilliance, detachment, and a deeply spiritual nature. He took diksha in Samvat 1642 and at the young age of just 16, attained the title of “Suri”, which reflects his extraordinary talent and penance.
By the command of his Guru, he first traveled to Kutch and spread the profound influence of Jain dharma there. In Samvat 1650, under his holy guidance from Bhadreshwar Tirth, a grand Chhari Sangh of 15,000 pilgrims, led by ministers Vardhman and Padmasinh, set out for Shri Shatrunjaya Tirth—an unparalleled event in Jain history.
Through his inspiration, 52 Jinalayas were constructed in Chandi Chowk, Jamnagar, and many temples were also built on Shatrunjaya. The renovation of Bhadreshwar Tirth was also carried out under his guidance, which still stands as a living testimony to his service.
The ruler of Kutch, Maharav Bharamalji, was deeply influenced by his teachings and implemented Amari (non-violence) across the entire state for 15 days during Paryushan. The establishment of Rajvihara Jinalaya in Bhuj is another fine example of his impact. Even today, the sacred seat where Acharyashri once resided is preserved in the Achalgaccha Upashray.
Not only in religion, but his contribution to literature was also immense. He authored several scriptures including ‘Ling Nirnay’. His disciples too enriched Sanskrit literature, reflecting the depth of his inspiration.
Even Mughal Emperor Jahangir and Jamnagar’s Jam Lakhaji were influenced by him—showcasing the vast reach of his impact.
On the sacred day of Samvat 1718, A*o Sud 13, he attained Nirvana in Bhuj, yet his spiritual fragrance continues to spread across Achalgaccha and the entire Jain community even today.
This great Acharya, with the blessings of Maa Mahakali, rendered unparalleled service to Achalgaccha and the Jain Shasan.
🙏 On this sacred birth anniversary, heartfelt reverence to such a great Acharya.
