Apsarakonda is a small village 8 km away from Honavar , near the confluence of Sharavathi river and the sea.There is also a small waterfall and a pool on backdrop of a Hill.The Hill provides a panoramic view of the beach which is really breathtaking. The place name means the pond of celstial nymph.Legend says that Apsaras(heavenly fairies) used to come here to bathe and relax.The place truly exudes heavenly beauty.There is a double shrine of Narasimha and durgadevi.The durgadevi temple has a stone enclosure. Near the matha here are seven samadhis of the swamis whose names could not be ascertained.There is a Maharishi statue near the samadhis which appears to be of early kadamba times. Some of the important places around Apsarakonda include the towns of Murudeshwara and idagunji, both places are religious importance.Karikanamma is scenic mountain that has breath taking view of Arabian sea and is a place for gigantic trees and the tiger. There is a parking facility,Boating cafeteria,2 stalls ,pargolas ,different wildlife statues,medicinal plants,water harvesting tank,information centre and other facilities.The amount paid by visitors towards parking fee,entrance fee,boating will remmited to the apsarakonda village forest committee account which is jointly managed by members of committee and Karnataka forest department and which is being utilized for development of village infrastructure and development and maintenance of apsarakonda.The pedal boat is Rs.5 per head whereas the parking is 5 for 2 wheelers and 10 for four wheeler which is very nominal.
