Why are overwhelming majority of pet dogs in urban India western breeds despite Indian breeds being superior in every way?

Indian dogs are naturally adapted to the country’s climate, making them more resilient to heat, humidity, and seasonal changes than imported breeds. They require less grooming, are low-maintenance in diet and exercise needs, are less prone to genetic diseases common in pedigree dogs, and have stronger immunity against many local infections. Being street-smart and alert, they make excellent guard dogs while still being affectionate companions.

The only reason I see is an inherent inferiority complex. Imported dogs are flaunted as status symbols, while native breeds are unfairly branded “inferior” or “stray.” I doubt any Western nation imports Indian dogs as pets; it’s we who run after foreign breeds.
