Sajad Lone Questions Govt Over Threat to Cancel Medical Internships, Takes Dig at NC Leadership
Srinagar, September 8: Peoples Conference President and Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone on Tuesday questioned the Jammu and Kashmir government over reports of threats to cancel the internships of protesting medical interns, accusing the administration of showing “arrogance” and “contempt” towards Kashmiri youth.
In a post on X, Lone directly challenged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to demonstrate the same assertiveness in Delhi that he allegedly displays while dealing with protesting medical interns in Jammu and Kashmir.
“So now medical interns are being threatened with cancellation of their internships. What a shame. CM sahib, I challenge you. This arrogance. This bravado. Can you please show this in Delhi when you go with shawls and bouquets to BJP top leadership,” Lone said.
He alleged that the government was treating people who voted for it with contempt, while maintaining a conciliatory approach towards the BJP leadership.
“The ones you sought votes against is the BJP. They are the ones you go with shawls and bouquets and bend your back backwards to please them. And the ones whom you sought votes from, mainly Kashmiris, are the ones whom you threaten and treat with contempt and disdain,” he said.
Lone also questioned the government's handling of the issue, saying that while the Health Minister was reportedly looking into the matter, the resolution would require financial intervention.
“I believe you have said the Health Minister is looking into the matter. May I humbly remind you that the Finance Minister will have to arrange the cash, not the Health Minister. And apparently you are in charge of the Finance Department,” he said.
Taking a swipe at the ruling National Conference, Lone concluded by referring to the mandate received by the party in the Assembly elections.
“And to the people of Kashmir who gave them 42 seats, may I say my hello to you all,” he said.
