We strongly condemn the brutal and cowardly attack on our NPP volunteers on the evening of 9th April 2026 at Warigiding, after the conclusion of voting at Gangdangbra Polling Station.

Our volunteers — Monendra Haflongbar, Janarjit Naiding, and Jeetujit Thaosen — were violently assaulted by individuals allegedly associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, using iron rods, hammers, and sharp weapons, with clear intent to cause grievous harm. This unprovoked act of violence during such a crucial democratic moment is deeply disturbing and unacceptable.

Despite this violence, our people chose peace and upheld the true spirit of democracy.

The attack left our volunteers seriously injured, endangered lives, and disrupted public peace on a day meant for the voice of the people. Such acts have no place in a civilised society and are a direct attack on free and fair elections.

We demand immediate and strict legal action against all those involved and call upon the authorities to ensure justice is delivered without delay. Adequate protection must also be provided to safeguard our workers and supporters.

NPP Dima Hasao stands firmly with the injured and their families. We will not be intimidated. We will continue to stand for peace, democracy, and the rights of our people.
