Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department Haflong, Dima Hasao Animal Husbandry and Veterinary is one of the major departments of Government of DHAC. The present administrative setup, i.e.

The Department is responsible for matters relating to livestock production, preservation, protection from disease and improvement of stocks and dairy development. This is an official Facebook group for feautring and creating awareness about the activites of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Haflong Dima Hasao District. The first Veterinary Dispensary was established at Chenikuthi, Guwahati with Superintendent of Civil Veterinary Department under the British rule in the year of 1905. Initially, Veterinary Sector in the state of Assam was under Superintendent, Civil Veterinary Department. The Department was divided into two zones comprising Jorhat as upper Assam Circle and Guwahati as lower Assam Circle headed by Veterinary Inspector.The Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and Supervisory Field Assistants worked in the dispensaries under the Veterinary Inspector. The Veterinary Inspector was responsible for regular inspection of Veterinary Dispensaries. This system ended in the year of 1940.The Department then came under Director, Veterinary with District Veterinary Officers at the District level. Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam came into effect from 1950.

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam had a fruitful meeting with Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh) in this regard and witnessed some fruitful time.
Special emphasis is placed on exploiting the potential of each of the above sectors. He also discussed the strategy to make Assam a leading fish producing and export oriented state through increasing fish production, strengthening processing infrastructure, improving price chain and expanding market linkages.
They also discussed ways to strengthen the dairy cooperative sector of Assam through improved veterinary services, establishment of veterinary pharmaceutical centres, establishment of Tetrapack (UHT) and milk powder projects and improvement of cattle breeds through artificial insemination.
