Dima Hasao District Commissioner Gayatri Devidas Hyalinge, IAS convened a meeting with the Presidents and Secretaries of local Masjid authorities and Muslim community representatives at the Circuit House in Haflong on 27/05/2026, to raise awareness regarding the guidelines for the upcoming Eid-ul-Zuha festival in Dima Hasao.
The meeting focused on the enforcement of the Assam Cattle Prevention Act.
The District Commissioner briefed community representatives that the slaughter of cows is completely prohibited across the districts.

The District Commissioner, alongside Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ripunjoy Kakati, APS and Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Shhaurya Sharma, ACS outlined several mandatory directives to maintain peace and harmony in the District. They also directed that sharing graphic photographs or video clips of animal sacrifices on any online platform is completely banned.
The meeting concluded with community leaders assuring full cooperation with the law enforcement agencies to guarantee a peaceful, harmonious, and legally compliant Eid celebration throughout the Dima Hasao district.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), in collaboration with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), organized a One-Day Workshop on “Earthquake Risk Mitigation” at the District Commissioner’s Office, Training Hall (2nd Floor), Haflong.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sri Shhaurya Shharma (ACS), ADC & CEO, DDMA, Dima Hasao, and brought together engineers from various line departments and contractors to strengthen earthquake preparedness and resilience in the region.
